Days before he officially becomes a U.S. senator, Mitt Romney took to the Washington Post to fire a shot across President Trumps bow, saying Mr. Trump had made a deep descent in December and is hurting the national character.
In an op-ed column published online Tuesday evening, Mr. Romney, now a Republican senator-elect for Utah, came down hardest on recent moves in foreign policy and Cabinet positions related to that.
After he became the nominee, I hoped his campaign would refrain from resentment and name-calling. It did not. When he won the election, I hoped he would rise to the occasion. His early appointments of Rex Tillerson, Jeff Sessions, Nikki Haley, Gary Cohn, H.R. McMaster, Kelly and Mattis were encouraging. But, on balance, his conduct over the past two years, particularly his actions this month, is evidence that the president has not risen to the mantle of the office, he wrote.

But 50% dems would switch parties to vote for him in the primaries.
We all at FR saw this coming. He is as transparent as the heavily accented ‘Microsoft’ phone techs that call me wanting to fix my computer.
“Eliminate the tax-exempt status of the LDS”
Just what the hell does that have to do with Romney per se? There are renegades in every religion on the face of the Earth! I was raised a Mormon. I don’t believe in it, and haven’t for more than 50 years. That said, by and large Mormon people are among the most honest and ethical people you will find in this country. Utah is a very well-run state, not full of Liberal $hit like most of the rest. So why would you single them out for government abuse because of a couple of their members are bad guys? While you’re at it, how about going after all the rest of the churches because they most likely have some elected bad apples.
Why did the people of Utah inflict this man upon the Republican Party and conservatives of America?

Open borders, a longstanding policy of the Mormon church.
The littlest god has spoken and we all giggle. Bless his heart.
This opinion piece by Romney will be on every news outlet by tomorrow morning.
The AP will report on it, and it will be filler on the front pages of every 3 page local paper in the country
Me thinks Mittens is still butthurt over Trump yanking Mitts Magic Underwear up over his head in that Trump tower meeting where he thought he was going to be SoS

“The Kenyanesian Usurpation”
That ain’t nothing compared to what was planned.
Thank you. Ive been very insulted on this thread. I hate it when we dont like someone and FReepers immediately blame their whole group. Glad you spoke up. We are against Romney, not all Mormons.
Good question. I honestly don’t know the answer to that, but I do feel the party is on its last legs. Hmm. This might be a question we pose to the group as a whole, and see what answers we get.
Utahns or Mormons aren't doing populism now. They're more entrepreneurial and convinced that they'll win in the global market. So they aren't as much for Trump as many other parts of the country are.
He strapped the dog to the car roof for the family trip. FU Mittens.
I, too, find it exasperating that the people of Utah elected this worthless carpetbagger instead of a perfectly fine candidate in Mike Kennedy.
BTW, I agree that Mittens had better not get a seat on the Judiciary Committee, taking up where Flake left off to try to sabotage President Trump’s nominees (especially for SCOTUS)!!!
Jeff Flake, too.
Muck Fitt!
Thanks, Utah.
I do not intend to comment on every tweet or fault. But I will speak out against significant statements or actions that are divisive, racist, sexist, anti-immigrant, dishonest or destructive to democratic institutions
Did Mitt mention even ONE concrete example of a fault? (Didnt see any in Wash Times piece.). These cowards love to opine in articles or have fluff CNN interviewers, without challenge to their facts.
