Romney assails Trump in New Year's op-ed: 'The president has not risen to the mantle of the office'

Days before he officially becomes a U.S. senator, Mitt Romney took to the Washington Post to fire a shot across President Trumps bow, saying Mr. Trump had made a deep descent in December and is hurting the national character.
In an op-ed column published online Tuesday evening, Mr. Romney, now a Republican senator-elect for Utah, came down hardest on recent moves in foreign policy and Cabinet positions related to that.
After he became the nominee, I hoped his campaign would refrain from resentment and name-calling. It did not. When he won the election, I hoped he would rise to the occasion. His early appointments of Rex Tillerson, Jeff Sessions, Nikki Haley, Gary Cohn, H.R. McMaster, Kelly and Mattis were encouraging. But, on balance, his conduct over the past two years, particularly his actions this month, is evidence that the president has not risen to the mantle of the office, he wrote.

Sadly for Romney he couldn’t even achieve the mantel. So easy to be a sore loser. Even sadder when one confirms it.

Evil, vile, leftist NWO hack. Couldn’t even wait til he’s officially sworn in, to run to the WaComPost yellow paper.
Thanks, UT.

Repubs, if you nominate this milquetoast male pretender, you can count my vote out.

He only ran in Utah because he could never get elected in Massachusetts.

I have come to understand that the democrats want to hand us over to the UN tomorrow, while the GOP would prefer it happened in 10-20 years. That is the only difference between them.

Is this the same Mitt that folded like a cheap suit and gave the election to bathhouse barry? The same Mitt whose son said, after the election was lost, that his father never really wanted to be President? That Mitt? I can honestly say that when it comes to anything Mitt has to say:

I think Lindsey Graham truly likes Trump now, but it will be interesting to see how he deals with Romney.

Romney is a national disgrace. How nervy of him to say such things about a truly successful president who is getting things done on behalf of the American people. The only working part of Romney seems to be his mouth and his jealousy. Shaddup, Willard.

True. The Democrats want immediate global governance of our country. The Republicants are willing to give us a transitional period before it happens. May both those rotten parties go down in flames.

Romney will challenge Trump in 2020. The Piece Of Mitt would lose 50% of the base right off the bat. Don't the GOPee NeverTrumpers understand what's going on?
To: rdl6989
On cue, Mittens will be the GOP cheerleader judas to convict Trump in the Senate.
The older I get, the more I think that Romney and McCain were recruited to take dives for Obama.

[Jeb! 2.0]
I doubt it. Mitt is far more formidable. He built a $300m fortune from nothing. And he was runner-up in 2008 and the nominee in 2012. Whereas Jeb failed to even place in 2016. Knock on wood - Trump will crush him in 2020. But Mitt will be a contender for the nomination in a way that few other 2020 GOP challengers will be.

Because he, like McCain, wanted to lose..he had NO desire to become President..Obama was dealing with Benghazi and a horrible economy and Romney STILL still couldn’t beat him..says a lot
