It’s official: A Woodstock 50th anniversary concert is coming to the original site of the 1969 music festival in Upstate New York next year.

The Bethel Woods Center for the Arts confirmed Thursday that it will host a three-day event on August 16-18, 2019, titled “Bethel Woods Music and Culture Festival.” The “pan-generational music, culture, and community event” will celebrate the golden anniversary of the original Woodstock concert with a series of concerts, “TED-style talks,” and a “We Are Golden” history exhibit at the Museum at Bethel Woods.

"Fifty years ago, people gathered peacefully on our site inspired to change the world through music. As the stewards of this historic site, we remain committed to preserving this rich history and spirit and to educating and inspiring new generations to contribute positively to the world through music, culture and community,” Bethel Woods CEO Darlene Fedun said in a statement.

I imagine Elton JOhn can claim some connection because he had his first American hit about that time. The rest are junk, IMO.

I'd wager that there will be protests about the selection of groups and rappers will have to be included.

Here is a list of folks who will definitely not be making it. Not sure how current it is.

I guess... There was one actual Woodstock then the corporate suits took over the industry. Any other Woodstock would be a franchised approximation, and therefore fake.

""Fifty years ago, people gathered peacefully on our site inspired to change the world through music."

That's B.S.

People were inspired to gather for sex, drugs, and rock n roll.

Just wow. $750 for Santana, which was one of the best, and memorable performances.

George Hamilton IV on “Urge for Going”.

Not my cup o' tea, but he did a fair rendition.

I went to the first "Woodstock II" in 1994... it was actually quite amazing. The lineup was once in a lifetime.

by the grace of God a couple of us were there offering evangelical gospel tracts in what turned out to be "Mudstock." We got in after security walked off (I was manning a South gate for a while) and the gates were opened (after promoters had made their money I think,. being sold out).

Even Howard Johnson's ran out of food, and a sudden change to very cool temps made it hard for the crowd. Very receptive crowd for us. Wish more believers were there to give the word of God out.

They will make another mess.

And a Republican rented the land for the first Woodstock (which was a different location than the one in 94).
