Dr. Peter Pry is the Executive Director of the EMP Task Force.
Pry explains there are three sources of EMP: the sun, nuclear weapons, and non-nuclear weapons.
The entire world would be affected, putting electric grids and critical infrastructures as well as billions of lives at risk. Pry believes it is inevitable that we will be struck by a Carrington-class geomagnetic storms, for its not a question of if, but its a question of when will that happen.
A second EMP threat stems from nuclear weapons detonated at high altitude of 30 to 400 kilometers. A single nuclear weapon detonated at that altitude would create an electromagnetic field that would cover all of North America, most of Canada and a good part of Mexico.
Non-nuclear EMP weapons, or radio frequency, weapons are a third cause for concern. A non-nuclear EMP weapon has very limited range, typically a hundred yards or so, but the electric grid is so fragile that if you had a terrorist or criminal organization with multiple radio frequency weapons, they could cause a nationwide blackout by attacking high-voltage (HV) transformers.
As the chief of staff of the congressional EMP commission for 17 years, he notes a number of concerns. Aircraft would fall from the sky and automobiles would fail to start. Water would no longer be available in homes. We only have enough food to feed 326 million people for 30 days and the food would begin to spoil within 72 hours.
Should a nationwide blackout occur for as long as a year, the EMP commission reports 90% of our population could starve to death, die from disease and societal chaos, and collapse.

If you're interested in what life would be like after an EMP attack, here's a book I can highly recommend. Check out the reviews.
Hopefully our defenses are getting stronger with President Trump present. That book however was a very very very good read and I do Echo this recommendation.
all these yrs I thought North America was everything north of central America, including Canada..now I find out North America does not include Canada.
I knew before clicking the link what book it would be. Fully agree. Also the EMP Commission reports: https://michaelmabee.info/three-new-emp-commission-reports-released/
Mostly, just anted to get in before the dumb people aka EMP deniers.
After reading the book I started thinking twice when I visit the grocery store. How about you?
It was a real eye-opening book. I know how to garden pretty well. I do have 90 days supply of food. I’m not going to be one of these people that puts a whole year away though.
Glad you noticed that. I did too. Apparently geography is not the author’s strong point.
EMP is almost as big of a hoax as global warming.

Why would something like this be released? Why I tell her enemies exactly where our vulnerabilities are? That seems to me like giving somebody the keys to our kingdom. Really really stupid.
North America does include Canada, as well as everything north of the continent of South America.
“As the chief of staff of the congressional EMP commission for 17 years” He has been paid for 17 years to make this report?
EMP is almost as big of a hoax as global warming.

If you are willing to explain I am all ears. If I take a TV remote put it in the microwave and Run 1 second to circuitry is toasted. I would think this is a little bit related to that.
Besides stocking up on canned goods at the grocery store I also try to keep my never driven 75 Fiat charged.
Apparently only the really old cars and trucks without computer chips will be able to run after an EMP.
There is also the small matter that it will be awfully hard to get the gas out of the tanks at the gas stations - without any electricity - to allow the old vehicles to run.
I suppose if one has an old vehicle which will run one will not find much traffic able to exit the large cities to get to the countryside.
In Washington state it would be difficult to decide in the wintertime whether to weather it in Western Washington’s temperate but socialist areas or try to get to Eastern Washington where there would be better people and more food growing but be really cold if it was winter.
Oddly, I had no idea Greenland is considered part of North America.
I don’t think anything in the publicly released material would come as a surprise to those who might use EMP against us.
Or just listen to the dumb people, nothing to worry about so it’s not a problem. Pass the Unicorn-pooped Skittles...
It’s real. It was discovered after a test above ground back in the 50’s.
Many places I go to work are EMP fortified.
I do use canning jars and other solid jars with lids for rice, pasta and I do use oxygen absorbents where needed...not much into mylar...
Of course EMP is real but the threat is totally blown out of proportion.
If EMP brings the US to its knees, the blame belongs to Senator Lisa Murkowski who killed legislation to protect the electric grid. https://www.newsmax.com/KenTimmerman/lisa-murkowski-emp-energy/2010/10/14/id/373768/
