EMP is almost as big of a hoax as global warming.
...
If you are willing to explain I am all ears. If I take a TV remote put it in the microwave and Run 1 second to circuitry is toasted. I would think this is a little bit related to that.
I turned on the room light and a 100 watt light bulb flashed and burned out. The EMP from the bulb shut down my computer. Didn’t seem to damage it but it did shut it down.
Microwaves can be beamed for communications or cooking. An EMP weapon could also be beamed. But once you stop beaming and blast microwaves in all directions you won't have enough power at large distances to fry anything. Large distances would be defined by the size and efficiency of the weapon. N. Korea is not going to be able to make a nuke that can efficiently pump out microwaves to destroy your TV remote even if you were right underneath (and fried by) the nuke.
The main threat with EMP is low frequencies from a solar storm. Those are also difficult to produce with a nuke. The low frequencies, long wavelengths, only affect long transmission lines. Electronics won't be affected unless they lack any kind of surge protection. Your remote won't be affected at all by low frequency EMP
