President Donald Trumps announcement on Thursday that James Mattis would be stepping down as secretary of defense in February was a shock to many conservatives ― and not in a good way. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said in a statement that he was distressed that [Mattis] is resigning due to sharp differences with the president on ... key aspects of Americas global leadership.

Panic? Good riddance to a disloyal, PC, tranny-promoting Democrat. Let him take his pregnancy camo’s, portable lactation units and nursing mothers in combat training with him.
If there is ever an assassination attempt on Pres. Trump, it will probably be bankrolled by the Never-Trump GOP.

Clickable link to the the excellent article you recommended. Thank you my FRiend.
Every time another one of the 'permanent government' deep state types goes down we inch closer to making America great again.
They show their extreme ignorance and showed how dangerous they are if they hold any position of responsibility.
Mattis made a resignation statement that was exactly as it should be. He was not hostile, but stated that policy differences moved him to allow the President to have a SecDef who could fully support the policies of the President.
Mattis was a general officer who was obligated to follow the legal orders, policies, and direction of the president of the U.S. All military members are sworn to do the same and Mattis fulfilled this obligation as a general and officer through several presidents. As SecDef he was sworn to do the same. He works for and advises the president and is obligated to follow the directions and policies of the President as CinC.
Mattis resigned, unlike MacArthur in Korea who put himself above the president.
Bottom line is that the President is the CinC and is the chief executive. He takes advice and then issues policies and decisions that the rest are obligated to implement.
This concept is something that I was taught starting in late grade school as well as high school. As a career military member I swore to follow these rules. But then, I am an old fart who went to school during an entirely different time.
Those who think otherwise are woefully ignorant.
All general officers are politicians. They don’t normally reach high rank without being one.
He should have went when he disobeyed Trum's order to separate Trannies for being unable to perform, instead he managed to do a few sex change medical procedures. Mad Dog Mattis was really Twinkle Toes Mattis.
Who is the author? I’d like to read it.
Do you want to be the first one? Get yourself over there if you are so willing to sacrifice american lives
One of the reasons I voted for DJT was that I was sick of the endless, unwinnable wars. And I didn’t want war with russia.
And some of my fellow Marines, active duty and not, forget that Mattis was a great combat general and looked out for the troops but as a military member was was sworn to follow the legal orders, policies and directions of the Cinc who is the president.
I have seen similar comments on some USMC sites that are upset that the president and not the SecDef was resigning. As SecDef, Mattis was sworn to follow the directions of the CinC and not to implement his own policies or prevent CinC policies from being implemented.
Mattis followed the right path in handling his differences and there will be a new SecDef who will better align to the directions of the president.
The combination mentioned were also great leaders, but each in their own right and each would not have thought of not adhering to the orders of the CinC. Mattis is no different.
I just now read this...
I haven’t laughed out loud at a headline in a long time.
BWAHAHAHaha
I am really panicking /s
I am not panicking, are you panicking?
No, I am not.
Huff is kooky. Did they ever pay their writers?
No, it doesn't.

Retaining U.S. forces in Syria would keep alive a dilution birthed by the previous administration and evidently shared by James Mattis. The U.S. Naval Institute article titled Senators Quiz Military Leaders on U.S. Forces in Syria after ISIS is interesting, because of the map presenting areas controlled by various armed factions. This colorful crazy quilt identifies Syrian Kurds and Aligned Forces, Syrian Government Forces, Islamic State Forces, Syrian Opposition Forces, Turkish Military Backed Forces, and some white areas for which evidently no one can hazard a guess. Remote from each other are two tiny circles labeled U.S./Coalition Military. The map does not account for Israeli airstrikes and threatened Turkish offensives into Syria against the Kurds. What an endless array of possible permutations for factions to fight each other.
I wonder how one could have divined any meaningful level of involvement in the face of such turmoil? A comprehensive ceasefire seems remote. Even if achieved, then where do you find the diplomatic skills needed to sort out the combatants into peaceful agrarian villages like you see on Star Trek? If Mattis considers that is an imperative for U.S. foreign policy, then we are well rid of him.
