Absence does not make the heart grow fonder when it comes to President Trump and his first secretary of state, Rex Tillerson.
Nine months after Trump summarily dismissed his top diplomat by tweet, he followed it up with another tweet in which he branded Tillerson dumb as a rock and lazy as hell.
The biting words came after Tillerson, in an appearance at a charity event in Houston, said their relationship soured over Trumps repeated demands that Tillerson do things that were illegal.
So often, the president would say, Heres what I want you to do, and heres how I want you to do it, Tillerson said at a fundraiser for the MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, in his first public remarks about his truncated tenure since he was let go in March.

.... it’s never quiet on Friday.
So true.......love the Prez for giving as good as he gets. Roaches (Tillerson, etal) eventually come out in the light.
Did Tillerson mention that he tried to sabotage Trump while in Europe and Trump fired his ass?
Talk about smart, the president can sure pick em. How about sack of hammers Sessions ?
The State Dept is where the Swamp is the deepest.
Its been that way since FDR
So Tillerson goes to a cancer fund raiser and dishes dirt on the President... That’s real smart. Did he not think there might have been some Trump supporters in attendance who were not going to be exactly in the giving mood after his listening to his crap?
Anyone else notice how the leaks from the Trump administration stopped when Tillerson and a few others were shown the door???
I know that I don’t have any idea what is going on behind the scenes, but I cannot help but think that there really isn’t a lot of upside for Trump to be doing this. I understand pride, and getting back at someone for a snide public remark...but maybe a simple, “Well, he’s got his opinion, and I’ve got mine” would have sufficed. Bigger fish to fry, and all that.
I say this as someone who proudly voted for Trump to be POTUS, twice, and am looking forward to doing the same in 2020. Everyone steps in a steaming pile every once in a while...and I believe that this is one of those times for my favorite President in 3 1/2 decades.
in - a - nutshell
couldn’t have said it better
Tillerson had to go because he was worn out, couldn’t do the travel.
Very bright and capable person, but just ran out of gas.
Tillerson came into the job with long standing international business relationships that made it very difficult to be diplomatic, on behalf of America, at times.
I completely disagree.
The Political Left is working 24-7 to slander, bankrupt, or imprison every consequential Conservative in America.
And, Trump inspires no confidence that he will vigorously or effectively defend Conservatives who come under attack.
Off the top of my head, Trump passively allowed Judge Roy Moore from Alabama and former EPA Director Scott Pruitt to be utterly destroyed.
More recently, Trump passively allowed Judge Brett Kavanaugh to be severely wounded by the Political Left.
And, frankly, Trump has been completely inept at defending himself against Mueller and the Russia collusion hoax.
Bottom Line - why should any prudent Conservative place his reputation, his financial security, or his personal liberty in the hands of Donald Trump?
For the record:
Rex Tillerson was CEO of EXXON. He is not dumb as a rock.
Thanks.
What happens next Thursday?
Pres really needs a little filter on his twitter mouth. He appointed the guy he now claims is a dumb rock and that same rock made a lot of stockholders happy at Exxon.
Love what Trump is trying to do -just wish he could come across as a little more in control of his keyboard emotions.

LOL.
Don't tell me. Tell Donald.

Agreed. And, I think the daily evil onslaught by all his detractors is wearing him down.
LOL ....... that’s great.
He's hardly acting like POTUS when he does this. My guess is Tillerson and Trump rubbed each other wrong - TRex called the Trumps The Royal Family, and who knows what else so Trump fired him in a humiliating way. So now TRex finally slaps back and Trump responds sounding like a 5th grade kid.
Sigh....being diplomatic isn't his strong point.
I don't blame Trump for being angry...but sometimes he aggravates the problems.
