And the Gators and FSU have both had terrible attendance numbers this year. A lot of empty seats at Doak for the UF-FSU game, that would have never happened up to a few years ago.

But College Football is dying, too, I think ESPN has taken a lot of air out of it. Also it’s a consequence of having a playoff system. Once teams are out of contention, fans lose interest.

The players’ collective bargaining agreement and the 10 year network contracts are both up for renewal in the next year or so.

Once Brady and Bellichick leave, I suspect Patriots’ games will have a lot of empty seats, they still are behind the Sox, Celtics, and maybe even the Bruins, in the Boston sports hierarchy.

Let them die the death they’re making for themselves.

We need the USFL back

“Good thing they renewed that leftist idiot Goodell as the commissioner and with a huge bonus.”

Yep. And he will collect an amount of money equal to what taxpayers are spending on Heinz Field, home of the idiotic Steelers game show extravaganza.

NFL welfare .... it’s FAN-TASTIC!

The kneelers have begun to infiltrate colleges and high schools.

According to plan.

It’s not just football. NASCAR is like a ghost town at some tracks. Others do better.

Richmond used to sell out 112,000 seats twice a year up until 2009. Now, the track only seats 60,000 and maybe draws 40,000.

TV ratings are way down since 2009. NASCAR used to draw a 4.5 to 5.5 rating but is down to about 1.5 to 2.5 this season.

At the minimum each Power Five conference winner should be represented, with 1 at-large bid. I’d prefer 3 at-large bids expanding the playoffs from 4 teams to 8 teams.

I think two at-large are enough.

Take the Power Five conference champs, add in two at-large teams. (So now the conference championship games essentially become playoff games, themselves).

Seed the teams 1 thru 7. Top Two teams get a bye. The 6 and 7 seeds play each other to play the 3rd seed in the quarterfinals, with the 4th and 5th seeds playing each other, with the winners of those games playing the 1 and 2 seeds.

What has happened to NASCAR? Is it the PC/diversity craze? I see they are recruiting college athletes so they can have affirmative action pit crews now.

Haven’t watched a game all season. I used to watch a half-hour or so every week.

I think the unpatriotic B.S. is only a tiny part of the problem.

The New York Giants used to have a multiple-decade waiting list for season tickets. The whole thing changed when they built the new MetLife Stadium and began charging exorbitant seat license fees.

You can go onto the team's website today and buy tickets to their next home game on December 2nd -- either directly from the team or through a resale outlet. And for two seats next to each other in the same section, the resale prices are lower than the face value of the tickets right now.

Looking for kneelers and frowners, even if there are none (there are always frowners) distracts me. Shouldn’t, but it does.

I’ve heard some reasons or excuses , such as:

Bad weather in many cities hold down the crowds.

Many teams are out of playoff contention.

By this time of year, many people were traveling for Thanksgiving and are Christmas shopping instead of going to a game.

As for the Chargers not filling up their 27,000 seat temporary home, I’ve heard people say there’s too much else to do in LA, plus there are already so many sports teams there, that the Chargers don’t get much attention, even with a playoff caliber team this season.

that’s exactly right about the playoffs. It used to be there were a lot of things to play for, rivalries, conference championships, major bowl games. Now the only thing that counts is being in the final four, and you can pretty much predict two of the four before the season starts.

That would work. Currently, should Georgia beat Alabama on Saturday, they could meet again for the championship, assuming Alabama drop to #4. Not a good system.
