The problem is they’ve KNOWN for at least 6 months they should get out,

Just because they made the announcement today, what makes you think this decision WASN'T made 6 months or even a year ago? Which I suspect is the latter of the two..........

Doesn’t make it any better. Again. The chart in 23. If they made the decision in April why are the still going to be making cars they KNOW won’t sell until Q4 of NEXT YEAR?! Bad management. They should have been focusing on ending the supply line. They failed. Pure and simple.

Hourly Salaried Ratio
1348 194 6.95
1435 183 7.84
2600 300 8.67
265 70 3.79
252 57 4.42

Too much management, not enough managing.

... brilliantly successful Chevy Vega,...

HEY!

I had 4 of them once.

In one week; I bought one of them and paid less than for a small riding mower I'd just purchased; too.

The Vega ran just fine and the mower didn't.

Preexisting orders need to be filled.

Both of them?

I’ve got 3 1 ton vans with each over 150K on them.

I bought each one used with over 100K on them.

No problems other than a few alternators and water pumps

That chart is meaningless and if you ever spent time in the auto industry you would realize that.

First off, these closings were planned over a year ago and it was just announced.

Why so long? Because to limit the number of disability claims by employees going out on alleged illnesses once they realize they are losing their jobs.

Then to cut down on the Workers Compensation claims which will ultimately be filed by the same employees losing their jobs.........

Been there, and dealt with that.

Both of them?

You mean there's more than five?

We’ve had mostly GM products. Lately we’ve been eyeing new vehicles, but to get anything GM and comparable to what we have would be nearly $70K.. can’t afford that!

“In 2009 they shut down my dealer.” Thanks for the history. Sorry for the broken heart. Yes, politicians closed some Chevy dealership simply because they felt like it. Unfair and cruel.

Hear ya. I’m due for a new everyday driver, but anything I actually want is $45k. Ouch!

“I will buy another Dodge Truck when I need to, but my next car will be a BMW and my next van will probably be a Mercedes Sprinter.”

I love the Sprinter too, but there are nightmares regarding their emission control system (Diesel Particulate Filter, DPF, to be precise). I suspect it’s a (very expensive) jury rig for the US market, but in any case, read up on it before buying. I did my research about 3 years ago and maybe they’ve improved it since then.

All right. About $400-$500/year. That still pays for itself when you enter the 6th year, or so.

I own a '98 Chevy Silverado that I bought new for my business in August of that year. During its twelve years in daily service we replaced the fuel pump twice, and changed out an upper coolant hose once.

Other than the usual wear and tear items like tires, plugs, and batteries, we did no other repairs.

In the eight years since it became an all purpose family vehicle, I've had the front suspension redone, and a new engine installed at 225,000 miles.

I figure I more than got my money's worth out of it.

Are we just supposed to sit on our hands while Tom Arnold is being terrorized by authorities?

They will make it up in volume
