Sybil was the first major book to tie "MPD" to child abuse. Published in 1973, it was followed by a compelling 1976 movie. Sybil played a substantial role in the cultural and psychiatric tsunami, later known as the "false" or "recovered" memory debate.
According to author Debbie Nathan "In the entire history of Western civilization, there had been less than 200 cases over a period of centuries. But after the book and film, suddenly there were hundreds and thousands. And by the late 1980s there were 40,000 cases diagnosed in the United States alone." See Sybil Exposed

No, I didn’t miss your point. I made a point with my post and you responded with irrelevance. Jackass
Yes. It all should be compared with other psychological fads. How about the “alien abduction” tales that got Harvard psychiatrist John Mack in hot water a couple of decades ago? Never before the era of Science Fiction were there all these specific tales of being abducted to alien space ships.....
Though of course there may be many mysteries through millennia from visions, seizures, dreams, etc. but I don’t think people were having all the specific “recollections” of being abducted and probed by space aliens until there was a body of Sci Fi works and movies to draw upon in recent decades.
Right, my point is simply that contemporary cultural concepts can drive these fads, and that “transgender” ideology seems to be soaring now. There were gender confused individuals in previous ages but the current set of notions is particularly strange and virulent.
Yes, many varieties of dreams, visions, and/or seizures can feed into the myriad cultural settings which interpret them in particular ways.
LOL!
One UK school noticed a high rate of trans gender in one class.
and multiple personality disorder was one of the problems that could be induced.
And of course now using the word retarded is taboo.
. But after the book and film,
Much of our world view is learned from the movies................
Many transgenders are “on the spectrum” autistic, which makes social interaction difficult. Other mental issues that are prevalent in transgenders (especially females) are ADHD, depression, OCD, and anxiety.
These most often show up in the “Rapid Onset Gender Dysphoria” (ROGD) that is seen. I’m guessing that many of these kids think that this transgender solution will be a “quick fix” to their distress that manifests itself as gender dysphoria. Also as a means to solve their social difficulties as now they have a group that they will “fit in” with.
It has a lot of cult-like properties as well. (If those people don’t affirm you - well they don’t really love you. But we do. You just need to cut them off as they are a negative influence. Or - doubts about all of this are common. But you just have to be true to yourself. The sooner you get on hormones the better you will be. Etc.)
Sunday school.
Post #11 - you nailed the truth in ways that many people are years behind understanding and many may never. Cheers, sir!
There is a fairly common sleep disorder called sleep paralysis that can cause people to have very intense hallucinations. I believe that in ages past, the hallucinations were of supernatural phenomena, but as we moved into the space age, those hallucinations shifted to reflect more science fictiony themes.
Sleep paralysis runs in my family.
Many folks these days talk about movies and tv as if that is real life.
Gender Challenged;)
if a person knows who they are in Christ they will have no confusion what gender they are as a human being. God didn’t make mistakes of xx or xy for counselors and doctors to get rich on aiding the delusions.
There are very few cases of babies born with multiple gender genitalia and those are handled individualy not spring up a whole new business of sexual organ surgery for cosmetic or selfish reasons.
I’m so old that I can remember when a “blown trany” meant a car problem.
I think you mean ‘back hole’.
