President Trump fired back at Chief Justice John Roberts on Wednesday after the leader of the Supreme Court rebuked the president over his criticism of "Obama judges."
"Sorry Chief Justice John Roberts, but you do indeed have “Obama judges,” and they have a much different point of view than the people who are charged with the safety of our country," the president tweeted Wednesday afternoon.
Trump's tweet came after Roberts released an unprecedented statement criticizing the president earlier Wednesday, saying the U.S. doesn't have "Obama judges or Trump judges, Bush judges or Clinton judges.”
“What we have is an extraordinary group of dedicated judges doing their level best to do equal right to those appearing before them,” Roberts said in the statement.
The 9th Circuit court, located in California, is known for frequently blocking policy initiatives on immigration and national security from the Trump administration, and most recently issued a temporary stay on a joint rule from the Departments of Justice and Homeland Security prohibiting asylum claims from some migrants who cross the border illegally.
"It would be great if the 9th Circuit was indeed an “independent judiciary,” Trump added.
Thank you for fighting back, Mr President.

John Roberts was an Obama judge, with the same depth of feeling the Bushes have for the Obamas.
The Roberts’ fix was in when he and Obama pretended to have a “feud” at the State of the Union speech right before Roberts’ treasonous vote for Obamacare.

Robert’s is trying to maintain the facade of impartiality of the Judiciary even when his own Supreme Court is often split 5-4. Without a proven swing vote it is likely to become moreso.
John Roberts is a disgrace and I’m glad POTUS has fired back at him. POTUS is absolutely correct to call out extremely partisan activist judges in the 9th Circus.
Roberts needs to shut his d@mn mouth, or there’s going to be clear grounds to force him to recuse himself in cases involving POTUS.
Democrats govern through vote-winning judicial tyranny, judges who torture the Constitution to give protections / privileges to special interest voters.
John Roberts is an “Obama judge” and that is part of the problem that people elected Trump to solve.
I’d estimate that the GOP would need to appointe at least 8 judges before you got a somewhat conservative court.
Democrats would only ever need 5 for an ultra left court. Their picks never miss.
