Betrayal: Gov. Kasich Announces He Will Veto Heartbeat Bill and Stand Your Ground Measure
PJ Media ^ | NOVEMBER 19, 2018 | PAULA BOLYARD

Oh, John Kasich, how many times you have betrayed your party, your state, and your country — so many that we've lost count.

The most recent entry to the list is the Ohio governor's announcement that he will veto two bills that are near and dear to the hearts of conservatives who propelled him to victory in 2010 and 2014: The aptly named "heartbeat bill" and "stand your ground" legislation.

Kasich told reporters outside his office Monday that he opposes both bills. If Kasich follows through with the veto threat, this will be the second time in two years he's vetoed the "heartbeat bill," which would ban abortions in Ohio after a baby's heartbeat can be detected. The "stand your ground" legislation would allow armed Ohioans facing a threat or perceived threat to defend themselves with lethal force in public places with no “duty to retreat."

Kasich, the son of a mailman, signed a 20-week abortion ban in 2016 but vetoed a separate measure that would have protected babies with beating hearts from abortions. He said at the time that the law would have been struck down. "The State of Ohio will be the losing party in that lawsuit and will be forced to cover the legal fees for the pro-choice activists' lawyers," Kasich said. "Therefore, this veto is in the public interest."

On the issue of gun rights, Kasich has been all over the board. As a member of the House in the 1990s, he voted for the controversial so-called "assault weapons ban," joining with Dianne Feinstein and other liberal Democrats to help pass the measure. Since becoming governor, he has been cheered by gun rights activists in the state for signing into law several measures they supported...

Kasich shows his true colors, again.
No surprises here. Nothing that runs against the proper perception of him and his RINO politics.

Kasich has NEVER been a conservative, compassionate or otherwise.

Just sayin’...

I love the article throws in “Kasich, the son of a mailman,” LOL.

To be fair, if you allow abortions you really can’t limit them to before a HB is detected because that can be detected almost as swiftly as a pregnancy test goes positive. It’s kind of a law forbidding abortion. And remember why many, many people choose abortion: a test shows a possible or sure special need. A lot of people turn away from their unborn babies with special needs and prefer them dead. And those tests come later in pregnancy.

How dumb people are because having a child with a special need around makes its own joys and challenges and I frankly am glad for what it has done for our family and our love for our fellow man. I actually cringe when new pregnant parents, asked about gender, say “as long as it’s healthy.” Inside my head I’m yelling, “so? If he isn’t healthy, you’re not going to want him?” I prefer the special needs of babies and children to the special needs of the arrogant adult avenattis and acostas.

You are correct about the appeal process. I am really getting tired of the way the left Judge Shops in order to overturn and/or delay legislation or Presidential Orders that don’t go their way. At least in Ohio, they don’t have to go through the 9th Circuit which would cause at least a 90 day delay.

Yes; see my 26 for reason why such a Heartbeat bill might not be genuine.

Another issue for all pro-lifers is to realize that your fight needs to be about the actual unborn babies, and not just the law. Any obgyn can simply say, with the mom’s permission, that she needs a miscarriage removed by a D&C, and no one will ever know the baby had still been alive.

Then why does it say online that it’s 6 to 8 weeks, not ‘immediately’.

They were worried about our daughter since they didn’t hear her HB until about 10 weeks. 45 years later she’s just fine.

Gd bless! That was a long time to wait!

Ultrasound machines are getting better and better. It was only 5w and a couple days for my daughter and her then twin (who disintegrated and never got a hb). So now it might be faster than that. It’s around 5w which is about 3 weeks after sex so some people might not know they are pregnant before the baby’s heart starts.

Kasich has never betrayed his party. When it counts, he always sides with his fellow democrats - no exceptions.
