Its the First Amendment that Rutgers University history professor James Livingston can thank for avoiding punishment for posting on Facebook his hatred for white people.
He responded in anger when he found a restaurant in his Harlem neighborhood was too busy: OK, officially, I now hate white people. I am a white people, for Gods sake, but can we keep themusus out of my neighborhood?
Livingston said the restaurant was overrun with little Caucasian a-.
I hereby resign from my race.
His posts were noticed by news outlets, and members of the public complained to the university. Rutgers Office of Employment Equity then investigated and considered punishment.
However, the Foundation for Individual Rights in Education wrote to Rutgers President Robert Barchi, arguing the diatribe was protected speech.
Barchi ordered a review and the school now has determined the speech was protected.
FIRE is pleased that Rutgers did the right thing and reversed the charge of racial discrimination against Professor Livingston, said Marieke Tuthill Beck-Coon, FIREs director of litigation. Any other result would have undermined the free speech and academic freedom rights of all Rutgers faculty members.
Barchi noted that few values are as important to the university as the protection of our First Amendment rights even when the speech we are protecting is insensitive and reckless.
Livingston said in a statement: Im relieved that my right to free speech and my academic freedom have been validated by this retraction, thanks to FIRE, the AAUP, and colleagues, who made this strange episode an issue to be debated and decided in public.
WND reported Facebook removed Livingstons post, citing its Community Standards on hate speech.

And if a professor professes to hate black people, would THAT be okay? Or does the First Amendment only protect liberals?
Ruh roh. Now you tossed a monkey wrench in to the fray.
No one is born with such hate in their heart. In understanding it, we must understand where it came from. I think this guy just wants to join the new wave taking over the democrat party.
So why is he in their neighborhood? I guess he thinks he is the only white person allowed because he's special.
Would FIRE defend them? (Was that their intent here?)
Would FIRE win?
Nut! How is this news worthy?
Maybe it is time to bring before the supreme court? Never been tested?
Simply put, hate crime laws that increase punishment for bias-related crimes are Orwellian. They make some crime victims more equal than others, in blatant disregard of the jurisprudential concept of equality before the law.
There is no valid reason whatsoever that a crime committed against a specially designated class of people be it based on race, gender, sexual orientation or another identifying characteristic should face a stiffer penalty than the same crime committed against anyone who does not fall into one of those designated groups.
We are either all equal before the law or were not. The Supreme Court should strike down not only the federal hate crimes law but also all state and local versions of them.
So i guess it’s my constitutional right to get his email and tell him to go #### his mother.
And call him a cracka.
I’m sure he’ll cry like a bitch when he reads it because that’s what left wing faggots do.
Dish it out but can’t take it.
Black is White,
Up Is Down.
“I Hate Whitey and
I are One!”
I get So mad at Whiteys,
I Kick My Own Ass!
Is he giving up his White Privilege, too? Hard to be taken seriously if he doesnt also give up his privileges.
“monkey” wrench????????
You racist, anti-animal conservative!!!!!!!
Shame, shame!!!!
So he hates himself because other whites, like himself, want to enjoy a restaurant he enjoys. Lunacy!
Had he said he hated N-words he’d be in jail or dead.
*ROFL*
LOL!
Well, did you see the white guy perp in Kentucky that shot the two AAs at a Kroger store has also been charged with a hate crime as well as murder now. Cause that makes the killing that much more deadly. Or something. What if he had liked them but killed them anyway?
