Fox News personality and National Review contributor Kat Timpf was forced to leave a bar in Brooklyn over the weekend after a woman she had never met became enraged upon learning she worked in conservative media.

Timpf, who has twice previously been harassed while socializing in New York City, first described the incident in a Friday night tweet and later expanded on her initial description of the confrontation during a Monday interview with National Review.

Considering the circumstances, sounds like she did the right thing by retreating, but oh the urge to drop the harasser or call some of her big male friends for an instant flash mob to remind the bar and the drunks that there is another side.

If she wore lightweight rimless eyeglasses while out in public and retained the heavy glasses for television appearances, she would be utterly unrecognized.

Not everyone does well with contacts. And without the glasses she's just another cute face in a sea of them. The glasses give a little individuality.

I hear ya, but I’m not suggesting contacts. I’ve always preferred thin rimmed glasses. Not Ben Franklin rimless... more of the hippy wire-rimmed variety, or thin-rimmed with more substantial sidepieces.

IMHO, the heavy-framed dark ones are too obscuring.

But, its definitely a YMMV thing.

A common denominator in these harassment incidents is that the employees of the establishment never - or rarely - intervene on behalf of the person being harassed, and never throw the harassers out of the restaurant. In fact, in some of the incidents, it was the owner or employees of the establishment who were doing the harassing. To me, this is the most troubling part of the whole thing.

When I was young, glasses were uncool and I wore contacts for many years. No heroes except Superman wore glasses, and Clark Kent only became Superman when he took his glasses OFF.

Now, glasses - and the bigger frames, the better, it seems - seem to be regarded as a talisman of being "smart," which is what you apparently must be to avoid mockery and social ostracism in our pretentious, elitist world.
