Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, 85, breaks ribs in fall
CNBC ^ | 8 Nov 18 | Tucker Higgins

Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, 85, fell in her office at the court and fractured three ribs, according to a release from the court Thursday.

"She went home, but after experiencing discomfort overnight, went to George Washington University Hospital early this morning," the statement said. "Tests showed that she fractured three ribs on her left side and she was admitted for observation and treatment."

Ginsburg's health has been a matter of intense speculation in recent years. Ginsburg, the court's oldest member, is one of the court's four liberal justices. She has survived multiple bouts with cancer, and in 2014 underwent a procedure to have a stent placed in her right coronary artery.

The court said that more information would be provided as it became available.

It is not the first time that Ginsburg has fractured her ribs while on the court. In June 2012, Ginsburg fractured two ribs in a fall and did not disclose the incident to the public until months later.

<>"My wife immediately ordered me not to get on a ladder again."<>

Yep, that's why so many husbands do dangerous jobs while their lovely bride is shopping.

It may actually be a plot...just sayin'.

It’ll be interesting when she’s nominated (and she will be)what the rats will have up their sleeves to smear her.

I'm guessing it will hinge on abortion. Expect a lot of pink pussy hat demonstrations.

You might consider going a little easy on RBG. While we all vehemently disagree with her judicial attitudes, she is still an elderly person, and where I am from , automatically warrants some respect. Just sayin’
When "they" show proper respect for President Trump who is also well into his golden years, I will agree with you.

She isn’t owed a damn thing, especially respect. Anyone who openly wants to take away might rights and wishes that only women were on the Supreme Court can go straight to hell.

Let me clear it up “I look forward to the day when only men are on the Supreme Court” How’s that sound? But it’s ok when it’s for women? Puhleeeeze....

When one is discussing older people, like RBG, a fall is often a symptom of a much more serious condition that caused the fall. Indeed, as I know from personal experience with my late parents, a nursing home will often call a resident’s next of kin and start the bad news by saying, “Your mother just had a fall.” Then they’ll give the really bad news that the fall was caused by a stroke. Also, with a person the age of RBG, a series of falls often signals upcoming serious trouble, as happened with my late parents. Extreme old age is a real devil of a thing.

They now have to support their own female card. This lady will be confirmed with flying colors. They know she’s going to get confirmed.

***Even in a hospital setting, pneumonia can be deadly.***

In my opinion, “Even” should be replaced with “Especially”. If I had pneumonia, I’d prefer to get my rest at my home.

My guess is running a prostitution ring by pimping out whole sorority houses.

FRiend, you said exactly what
I’m thinking. Justice Thomas has richly earned retirement and should do so at the end of this term. There’s no requirement to stay in the court until they carry you out feet first

President Trump chose wisely to focus on the Senate races.

My brother in law was in his 40’s and went from feeling fine and fishing by the Verazzano Bridge to dead in 2 weeks due to pancreatic cancer.
