With her medical history this could end little Ruth Buzzy. It’s hard on someone her age who has enjoyed good health.
Still, while I would like to see her retire with honor, I don’t think she will. She will retire when her heart stops beating.
I can totally see this happening in an office. Catch one toe on a rug or chair leg, land on a desk.
I should have said Judge Amy Barrett was confirmed *last* October (2017) to 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals
But, sure enough...Wiki to the rescue...
Flail chest is a life-threatening medical condition that occurs when a segment of the rib cage breaks due to trauma and becomes detached from the rest of the chest wall. Two of the symptoms of flail chest are chest pain and shortness of breath. It occurs when multiple adjacent ribs are broken in multiple places, separating a segment, so a part of the chest wall moves independently. The number of ribs that must be broken varies by differing definitions: some sources say at least two adjacent ribs are broken in at least two places, some require three or more ribs in two or more places. The flail segment moves in the opposite direction to the rest of the chest wall: because of the ambient pressure in comparison to the pressure inside the lungs, it goes in while the rest of the chest is moving out, and vice versa. This so-called "paradoxical breathing" is painful and increases the work involved in breathing.
Flail chest is usually accompanied by a pulmonary contusion, a bruise of the lung tissue that can interfere with blood oxygenation. Often, it is the contusion, not the flail segment, that is the main cause of respiratory problems in people with both injuries.
Or trying to take away Jim Acosta’s microphone.
You just earned you PhD in snark. LOL.
Actually, that is quite impressive. Many geriatric exercises are isotonic.
Rib fractures can lead to pneumonia, due to the inability to cough easily.
Wouldn’t wish that on anyone.

Did she do something insanely dangerous like taking away Jim Acosta’s microphone?
“Who do the Leftists pray to? “
Darwin of course.
Entire bottle of chardonnay...
Slipped on a blue puddle...
‘UCK ‘EM Judge Jeannine. They treat compromise as a sign of weakness so smack them over the head!
I do wish her well and hope she has a comfortable recovery.
On another note, if there should be a vacancy on the court in the near future, for any reason, I do believe our President will honor the tradition of resisting a lame duck congressional appointment and will put forth a qualified candidate to the next Senate in late January.
Prayers up for her speedy recovery and subsequent retirement.
I broke 2 ribs in a skiing accident 30+ years ago when I was much younger.
VERY painful.
