President Trump only has a brief, lame duck congress ability to protect the nation from a Democrat-caused catastrophe. Here are suggestions for what he might do.

Sadly, I agree with other FReepers that the do-nothings in Congress are going to continue their losing streak right into their cushy new consulting gigs.

Its the “Washington Way”. Our government is corrupt.
The House better get on the ball.
Sessions was poised to resign. I am thinking now that if he stays or wants to stay that means he is a black hat.

He’s been a black hat from the get go. It should be obvious by now that Sessions has been, and still is, a Deep State plant. Think about it. Name one thing he has done to help Trump.
None, but would be interesting to have them on record on where they stand.
Kasick will likely run turd party in 2020 just to screw Trump.
Lightman is correct. That is completely the wrong approach. We lost the House, and the fact that millions of American (many of them middle class) got a tax RAISE was a major contributor to our defeat.
My advice to the GOP: when you find yourself in a hole, stop digging.
Congressman Rohrabacher (R-CA) and others in the House want to expand the SALT deduction from $10K to $20K. Well, errr, OK, but they should have done that last year.
It's kind of late now.
exactly. obizo signed and implemented EOs without House approved funding. President Trump can do the same,
There are LOTS of ways to fund the wall.
For sh!ts sake, fire Sessions and Rosenweasel already!
Not if Sessions gets the boot and is replaced by deGenova.
He will put the fear of God into these traitors.
Would have had virtually zero effect on the outcome.

I disagree. I think releasing the details of how the Deep State attempted to subvert our election, and seeing hard evidence that [tax payer funded] federal agencies were politically weaponized against a reformer president is powerful stuff. At the very least it would have given high level Republican candidates some ammunition for debates. This could have helped to put them on the moral high ground and helped in their defense of Trump’s presidency.
The FISA court was manipulated, if not complicit, in these shenanigans. This is dangerous stuff that must be exposed in any case.
I agree with you.
DOJ has been inutile up to this point. I’ll reserve judgment.
While I thought PDJT would have release the FISA docs prior to the election there may actually be a longer term goal in mind. If he'd released them and still lost the House then it would have been a wasted effort. He knows what's in the docs and who the guilty parties are so there's a possibility that he's still playing a longer game of using that information to reign them in or he'll go public with the info.
Exactly
Which is unfortunate in that it is our last chance to get something through for the next 28 months.
#3 is YUGE. In 2016 Conservatives were able to use social media to sway undecided voters. In 2018 Silicon Valley decided to impose censorship, and you see the results.
Millenial voters don’t listen to Rush and Levin on AM Radio. If we are to have any prayer of talking them back from the Socialist ledge we need to be able to reach them via social media.
This HAS to be atop Trump’s to-do list.
Perhaps Republican politicians have learned that their voting base does not like tax increases.
When one looks at the districts that Republicans lost, it’s the affluent suburban districts in high tax states.
Exactly as many of us predicted when the tax bill was passed.
Republican voters resent Republican politicians raising their taxes, and either changed their vote to Dem, or didn’t vote, or didn’t vote for the Republican House candidate on the ballot.
And it happened enough that Republicans lost the House.
For those here who celebrated “sticking it to the blue states”, know that YOUR support for that effort contributed to the loss of the House.
I’m not so sure, for a pretty obvious reason.
1) SALT has not yet gone into effect.
2) The people in blue states will not see a tax raise on their federal income tax. Instead they will see their whopping state and local taxes.
3) What will hopefully turn into an angry argument about state and local taxes will soon turn to benefits for illegal aliens.
