Just ahead of U.S. sanctions on Iran set to snap back on Monday targeting primarily the energy, shipbuilding, shipping, and banking sectors, Irans most prominent conservative cleric has announced that if oil exports are halted, Saudi tankers will be confiscated and Gulf countries attacked.
Powerful Shia cleric Ayatollah Ahmad Alamolhoda is the Friday Prayer leader in Mashhad, considered Irans spiritual capital and among the holiest places in Shia Islam, and sits on the governments Assembly of Experts but has no formal government role or decision-making ability. However, hes a powerful leader and chief spiritual force behind Irans conservative faction who has long been at odds with President Hassan Rouhani.
Iranian opposition sources report that Alamolhoda told his followers during his Friday prayer sermon:
If we reach a point that our oil is not exported, the Strait of Hormuz will be mined. Saudi oil tankers will be seized and regional countries will be leveled with Iranian missiles.
Prominent hardline cleric Ahmad Alamolhoda
The cleric is further reported to have declared that Iran has the power to instantly create conditions for $400 a barrel oil prices if it decides to act in the Persian Gulf.
He said as reported in regional opposition media:
If Iran decides, a single drop of this regions oil will not be exported and in 90 minutes all Persian Gulf countries will be destroyed. The UAE and Saudi Arabia will be destroyed in 60 minutes. After 90 minutes the U.S. will have nothing in this country. And we havent even started with Israel. Beware of the day we go after Israel, too. Thats why they want us to round up our missiles.

Updated 4 Nov: UK Mirror: Couple are TRICKED into helping Irans nuclear programme from their terrace home
EXCLUSIVE: All that pensioners Paul Attwater and Iris wanted was some extra cash to pay for a Crawley Town FC season ticket and a few holidays in the sun
By Dan Warburton
But shocked Paul, 65, and Iris, 66, were hauled into court after being accused of helping a rogue state develop weapons of mass destruction...
A judge spared them jail this week after saying they were very, very naive and had been deceived by the businessman...
The couple were duped by businessman Alexander George, 76, and were unaware he was using a complex network of companies in the Far East and a Dutch shipping firm to send the parts on to Iran.
Iris said: We were friends with Alex. He would always be overly friendly and tell us we were like family.”...
George, of Bristol, was found guilty of being knowingly concerned in the supply or delivery of controlled goods to an embargoed destination. He will be sentenced next month.

Heavens to Murgatroyd, did you just call them figgy-puckers?
*cough* *hack* *choke* CHORTLE *choke* *hack* *cough*
They are trying to drive up prices with their hollow rhetoric
Besides, they mere batting practice for us
It actually depends on the cost of production. In Saudi Arabia, it's very cheap.
“Iran population outnumbers that of Saudi Arabia by a ratio of 5:2. “
That doesn’t really matter when you are talking weaponry. The Mullahs need a Tomahawk enema.
So, apparently, the Iranians are also interested in having their entire military destroyed in about 5 days.
You guys should he’d what Jim Mattis said, which is that it would be better for you to deal with our State Department than with him.
Iranians fought to a stalemate against Saddam. A war against the US and President Trump will not be a stalemate.
Go ahead punk, make my day.
I have to wonder if the Ayatollah has thought this thing through. $400 oil would inconvenience the American public for a time and make the country rich shortly after. But it places Iran in the position of infuriating the Chinese, one of their most valuable customers, or delivering $50 oil to them under contract in a $400 market and hoping they don’t get blamed for what will happen to Chinese manufacturing anyway. I wouldn’t think that a very intelligent thing to do, but what the hell do I know?
>>Iran population outnumbers that of Saudi Arabia by a ratio of 5:2.
That just means that the Saudis would each have to fire 3 rounds and call it a day.
This is most amusing.
Virtualy all the oil out of Iran goes out the Persian Gulf via Kharg Island. The Oil is pumped to Kharg Island from many Oilfields in Iran. In one bombing raid Kharg Island would be an inferno. Go to Google Maps and look at all the storage tanks there. The oil pipelines are dependent on pumping stations in the interior of Iran. These are easily taken out. Iran could be made to cease to be an exporter nation in one day. THEY WOULD COLLAPSE ECONOMICALLY and internal revolution would soon follow.
Any tanker docking at an Iranian port would be a legitimate target. No tankers would dock.
Just think about this briefing to pilots. "You will get to attack targets that burn when you hit them. Good hunting boys and do not bring any bombs back."
ps
I lived in Iran as a young boy. There are many good people living there under the yoke of the Mullahs. They are angry and frightened but desperate. This is the recipe for revolution.
Oh please, please, please do it. I have my popcorn ready and I hate to waste anything.
And now both 160th SOAR and our SpecWarriors are much, much more experienced than in 1987.
(That photo is of Meteor (Barringer) Crater in Arizona. It is not from a Nuke.)
Iran has three times the population of Saudi Arabia. S A could not defeat Iran without help.
The Persians might be able to waylay a couple of tankers, but then there would be a substantial response. The Gulf isn’t the only place to get energy anymore; the Israelis just found a few trillion cubic feet of gas just offshore.
