After Barack Obama was elected in 2008, the no-longer-printed Newsweek magazine declared in a cover story “We are all socialists now.”
This month, as WND reported, a new poll examining the political leanings of the next generation of leaders found 31 percent of millennials identify as “democratic socialist” or “socialist” while 40 percent of men in that age group say the same.
Now, the Trump administration is offering an educational resource through its Council of Economic Advisors that asks whether or not socialism has ever delivered on its promises.
It’s an empirical question, contends the 72-page report “The Opportunity Cost of Socialism,” published Tuesday, not an abstract philosophical debate.
The report examines not only the track record of socialist experiments that once were vaunted in the West, such as the Soviet Union, Cuba and Venezuela. It looks at hard data to evaluate the Nordic states that many on the left now hold up as models.
The panel of advisers, chaired by economist Kevin Hassett, begin by pointing out that with the 200th anniversary of Karl Marx’s birth, “socialism is making a comeback in American political discourse.”

The Opportunity Costs of Socialism
People think that Socialism is a way to live a good life off of someone else’s dime. But the reality is Venezuela or the Soviet Union — the elites live the good life and everyone else ends up literally starving and losing even their basic necessities like a decent, safe place to live. Looking at Venezuela or North Korea today, I can’t think of a more apt definition of Evil.

Its a repeat of the 60’s hippie movement. Guys joined for the free sex. Today its more because of the feminization of the boys that more closely indentify with women and their emotions.

The problem with millennials is they were taught that they are the protagonist in their own story and that they would do great things. So, they graduate with a degree in gender studies, fifty-thousand dollars in debt but a profound knowledge of essential oils. They find themselves living in their parent’s basement and each day they wait for something amazing to happen that will propel them into the limelight as the hero they know they are. Robbed of any connection to church or patriotism they desperately search for relevance. The only path that appears open to them is Social Justice Warrior. So, between gigs as a barista at Starbucks and getting tattoos, they go out and avenge injustice by roundhouse kicking young women protesting abortion.
Beyond retaking the education system, I don’t see a solution. These people are doomed to an unhappy existence. I expect that millennials will be committing suicide it far higher numbers than other generations.

It’s being treated here as if the people pushing socialism were innocents who thought it might work. That’s not the case.
