Democrats are struggling to respond to President Trump and his Republican allies, who are casting the caravan of thousands of migrants headed toward the U.S.-Mexico border as a failure of Democrats to help enact immigration policy in the GOP-controlled Congress.
Some Democrats said Trump is vulnerable to a counterattack on his core campaign issue given that his policies failed to reduce the number of unauthorized immigrants. Yet party leaders and Democratic candidates have largely been silent ahead of the midterm elections, refusing to engage with Trump.
The Democratic and Republican strategies reflect the path each party has charted with two weeks till Nov. 6. Republicans are hoping to retain their Senate majority and limit losses in the House by playing on fears of migrants pouring into the country to rally conservatives, a strategy that helped propel Trump to the presidency in 2016.
Democrats, deeply divided on immigration, are trying to maintain a laserlike focus on health care and the GOP threat to protections for people with preexisting medical conditions, envisioning that as the issue that will determine control of Congress.
On Monday, Trump launched a fresh attempt to deflect blame for the more than 5,000 migrants from Honduras who were making their way north through Mexico. The president and his top aides say the rising number of Central Americans attempting to enter the United States without authorization presents a winning campaign issue, by showing Trump is right to call for stronger border control.

we can’t send Africa or Central America or the Middle East.
if we do we are called “imperialist” for wanting a say in how the money is spent and a return on that investment in infrastructure
if they want imperialist yankees out they can go s—— some Communist mules for cash
Every pundit says that the dems are focused on Health Care, and they are, but who the hell gave us Obama Care that even they say needs to be fixed. If I were the Republicans, I would hammer that fact home...YOU gave us Obama Care and we want to fix it!
Marxist RATs and their sugar daddy Soros are behind this invasion, IMO.
Something else I was reading at the DUmp today. Democrats actually believe Trump is paying for and organizing these radical invaders to come.
What is their thinking? They believe this is actually going to help Republicans in the mid terms. A sort of reverse October surprise. And to that extent they are right. This is going to hurt liberals and help conservatives.
But of course Trump had nothing to do with this. This was all paid for by Soros. Once again Democrats have shot themselves in the foot. They thought that bringing in hordes of screaming women would work with the Kavanaugh hearings. It did not. They thought that organizing poor migrants to march to America would help their cause. And of course it did not.
The truth they don’t want to hear is that citizens do not care about how which party makes what party look bad, but we sure as hell care about invaders waving a foreign flag and draining our wallets awhile they do so.
DUmmies need to get their heads out of their arses. The fumes are making them dizzy.
The caravan is an invasion. We have a legal immigration process that is being grossly ignored. If this were the 1940’s and we had 10,000 Germans or Japanese marching into the US our military would be justified to violently repel them.
They are slowly realizing that a good part of their support system is waking up.
And they REFUSE TO WEAR THE RIBBON ANYMORE
He is offering to build the wall as long as his low wage help are allowed to stay.
Democrats, deeply divided on immigration,
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Not really, they are all for amnesty and the abandonment of the rule of law and the surrender of the country.
It’s the GOP that is divided, the citizens want border security and enforcement and most of the elected want amnesty.
This is the last chance we have to keep our country.
Same exact position as Lindsey Graham.
Wall funding for amnesty.
“Yet party leaders and Democratic candidates have largely been silent ahead of the midterm elections, refusing to engage with Trump.”
This is the point the Republicans should be hammering. NOT ONE DEMOCRAT has come out against this invasion. Ask them, publicly, where they stand. Their silence will speak volumes.
I think the invasion caravan might actually help us on Election Day. Im sure that like Kavanaugh its meant to do the opposite but... how many voters are feeling positive about this?
******
I really like logic. Ive heard a few on our side mention the perils involved and they are out to lunch. This issue is a godsend almost for republicans. It goes to the core of everything we stand for.
What is funniest about this less than funny situation is how badly the people behind it wanted to turn it into another Kiddies In Cages propaganda coup and have watched it morph into an election-eating monster. The Dem strategists are divided, yes, but only in how far they can ditch this albatross without being called on it. Because if they're willing to invade their own country with 10,000 illegals in order to score political points, saying, "Oh, forget all that, let's talk about healthcare" is a truly pathetic dodge when it blows up on them.
“Well these people will have to be stopped in Mexico otherwise they can come in so we will need to invade Mexico.”
Just the mention of that will get Mexico to get them out.
Fueled by their insane hate for President Trump democrats maneuvered themselves into siding with MS13 instead of American citizens.
So we already know which side of this issue they are on.
They just haven’t brought themselves to admit it in public yet.
But they will.
Drop fliers telling the caravan that if they get into the US they will get no food. housing or medical. If we keep them off of every government program they will leave. Tell them the only money they get from us is a plane ticket home.
Also tell Mexico if the caravan keeps coming we will stop all money coming from the US to Mexico. Since it is the 2nd largest part of their economy they cant do without it.
