Scott Kelly is a NASA astronaut. That says a lot about him right there. To be selected as an astronaut, you must be the best of the best – smart, fearless, and psychologically sound.
So why does Kelly sound like an idiot here?
Scott Kelly, a retired American astronaut with multiple space flights under his belt, apologized Sunday after quoting Winston Churchill and calling the 20th century British prime minister "one of the greatest leaders of modern times."
"Did not mean to offend by quoting Churchill. My apologies. I will go and educate myself further on his atrocities, racist views which I do not support. My point was we need to come together as one nation. We are all Americans. That should transcend partisan politics," Kelly wrote on Twitter in the evening.
Right the first time, Scotty. In 1940, Churchill took a battered, beaten nation after the British army was kicked out of France and rallied his people to resist the Nazi onslaught. Certainly, Hitler helped a lot by making several key blunders. But as a demonstration of peerless leadership, there are few modern examples to match Churchill.
So calling Churchill "one of the greatest leaders of modern times" is a no-brainer. It is a statement supported by history and the facts.
Yossi Gestetner tried to give Kelly a spine:
You are disgracing yourself here. Please stop bending to the will of deranged online trolls.— Yossi Gestetner (@YossiGestetner) October 7, 2018

When they turn sour like this one I suspect he was suffered anal rape by an alien who snuck into the International Space Station. And he liked it.
I think he meant to say “atrocious” not “atrocities” but his spellchecker got him.
Not that that really changes anything.
All those things relate to piloting skill and technical competence, not ideology.
Otherwise the Russians could have never had a space program.

Not so fast....Mark Giffords (nee Kelly) was an astronaut too. These current corksucker astronauts are no Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin, Gus Grissom etc.
Were it not for Churchill, Kelly could well be speaking German and his spacecraft be emblazoned with a swastika.

The Bengal Famine of 1943 was deliberately caused by Churchill and killed millions.
“This is the kind of arrant pedantry up with which I will not put.”
Trump bashing leftist forced to apologize for using Churchhill to bash Trump.
Maybe quoting Hitler would suit them better?
If Scott Kelly looks familiar to you, it’s because his brother, Mark Kelly, is married to Gabrielle Giffords, and together they’ve been pushing gun control. Kelly’s own Twitter feed is a Comey-esque assemblage of pseudo-inspirational stuff with the prog “for decency’s sake” brand of Trump-bashing. But there’s no room for even feigned decency, inspiration and patriotism in today’s left.
Nope, that would be the Americans.
His twin brother is anti-gun super-liberal ex-astronaut Mark Kelly.
This will only end when Liberals don't have Conservatives' money to throw around. He's deciding which side to be on based on where he expects to get paid. Just like most people, I expect.
“Kelly, once a very brave man”
To me bravery requires that your willingness to take a risk is because of a higher, worthy cause. For instance, if you went into enemy gunfire to save a fellow soldier, that’s bravery.
But if just want to be shot into space, which entails risk, that’s not bravery.
It would be bravery only if a blindness to risk is part of the definition of the word.
Nevertheless, I admire Kelly for his astronaut career.
Scott Kelly piloted and then commanded that coffin for 7 PH’d’s in 2 flights and then 3 shots in the Soyuz to the International Space Station.
He’s had 520 days in space. Once was the American record holder for that but has been passed.
No, not just technical skills and general competence, but the emotional wherewithal to handle emergency and unforeseen situations.
The “right stuff” (by Tom Wolfe) is what he lacks.
I would say liberalism is a mental illness, but I believe in God, so I believe in the devil too. The devil is hard core into influencing these leftists.
Mil or ex-mil men, who try to come off visually looking like men, and presumably have firearms training, but don’t want civilians to have firearms — are the worst sellouts. What a disgusting person this Kelly is. I’m very sorry about his wife, he he’s an a$$hole.
As best as I can tell, Churchill described some muslims exactly as he found them in the early 1900's as well as offer his assessment of their practices and culture.
Perhaps the inevitable decrease of testosterone adversely impacts some men more than others. Or, maybe Obama got in his face about Churchill.
> No pussy-footer there.
Remove the footer, and that’s what he is.
Kelly the gutless loser - bump for later....
