President Trump revealed Saturday that he had asked Montana Sen. Steve Daines (R) to take time off to attend his daughter's wedding over the weekend, causing him to miss a confirmation vote for Brett Kavanaugh, Trump's Supreme Court nominee.
The president tweeted Saturday afternoon following Kavanaugh's successful confirmation in the Senate that he advised Daines to skip the vote once Republicans learned that they had the necessary number of votes to prevail.
"I have asked Steve Daines, our great Republican Senator from Montana, to attend his daughter Annies wedding rather than coming to todays vote," Trump wrote on Twitter shortly after the vote took place.
"Steve was ready to do whatever he had to, but we had the necessary number. To the Daines Family, congratulations-have a wonderful day!" he added in the tweet.

Donald J. Trump (@realDonaldTrump) October 6, 2018 Kavanaugh's nomination passed the full Senate on Saturday by a vote of 50-48, with the lone Republican in opposition, Alaska Sen. Lisa Murkowski (R), voting "present" to honor her colleague Daines's support of the nominee.
Daines was the only senator to skip the final vote on Kavanaugh's nomination, which followed weeks of bitter partisan fighting in the Senate.
The judge's confirmation process was fraught with controversy after three women came forward to accuse Kavanaugh of sexual assault shortly after his hearings before the Senate Judiciary Committee concluded. After a week-long FBI investigation into the claims, Democrats were unable to convince key swing-vote senators such as Maine's Sen. Susan Collins (R) to oppose the nomination.
Trump maintained support for his embattled nominee amid the accusations and subsequent FBI investigation, which Democrats criticized for being too narrow in scope.
God Bless President Trump.
Our President has a pure and Christian heart.
So often he displays acts of grace and kindness that the Fake News Media refuse to report !
And Murkowski voted “Present” so Daines did not have to be there to cancel her “no” vote with his “yes”.
As much as it pains me to say it, that was a classy move by the old broad.

Well done.
...*smiles*...a finger flick to the Adams apple of the vile SS DNC
President DJT IS THE MAN!!!!!
Trump shoulda tweeted:
“Since that awhole “no tester” wouldn’t volunteer to vote “present”, I had to do something to help out the family in their time of joy.....
AWESOME I LOVE LOVE LOVE OUR PRESIDENT..and to Annie Daines, Congrats on your wedding, enjoy this wonderful day!
OK... what’s Rubio’s excuse?
Yet one more reason for the godless left to hate him
...it might have been Palin’s tweet.
I liked this story: ‘Sen. Steve Daines says he’ll return to Washington D.C. by private jet on his daughter’s wedding day if his vote is needed...Republican Montana congressman Greg Gianforte, “has come to save the day” by offering him use of his private jet. Gianforte is one of the wealthiest members of Congress.’ cbsnews.com
Yeah, well I wouldn’t make too much of it. If they didn’t make that deal they would have found another way. With Daines they had 51 votes, and maybe 52 I don’t know what happened to Rubio. Saw him on TV a few days ago he said he was supporting BK but he didn’t cast a vote.
Just think about it- after Daines goes to Montana, Manchin "has a crisis of conscience" and suddenly is "woke" to the plight of abused women everywhere.....then decided to vote NO.
Murkowski then decides to Vote NO as well. Could've made it 49-50.
Wow, this just put tears in my eyes. What a gracious gentleman we have in the White House. Would any other POTUS have thought to make such a iponderful call to a Senator? I could see Lincoln, Washington, and Reagan thinking to do this.
Thank you, President Trump!
A truly class act.
Blessings to Sen. Steve Daines and his family on the occasion of the marriage of his daughter, AND on the occasion of the confirmation of Associate Justice Brett Kavanaugh!!!!
And may our Gracious Lord bless President Donald Trump, too!!!!
Obama and Hitlery would have demanded he show instead.
Did Rubio vote NO today?
