Well, then, the question would be just when dis Ms. McLean begin cooperating? Some of the wording gave me the sense that she was before this whole thing came out.

Yes I saw that too. But until Grassley writes a new letter there’s no evidence he is following the McLean angle at all.
I think he believes deeply that the shenanigans by the Dems with Kavanaugh will poison the well and has to be crushed totally. I hope he takes the bit between his teeth and sees this to completion.

I can picture them talking about how they were going to stop Kavanaugh from being confirmed, and McLean pops up and says that she knows just the patsy.
I intently watched the entire hearing last Thursday. When I first heard Ford speak, I thought she was faking that meek whispery voice. But as the questioning went on, it became apparent that she was very uncomfortable and clearly did not want to be there. The clincher for me came when Rachel Mitchell asked her if she was aware that an offer was made for committee members or staffers to have a private interview with her in California.
The attorneys immediately tried to keep her from answering. When Grassley was asking the attorneys if there was some way that she could respond without violating attorney/client privilege, Ford spoke before the attorneys could stop her.
She asked Grassley if she could say something, and of course he said go ahead. Ford said that it was not made clear to her that she could have been interviewed in California and would have been happy to have hosted them.
This revealed several things. One is that the attorneys were not properly representing her. Another is that Ford seems like the kind of person who is willing to help others and eager to please, especially life long friends. That her shy, mousy, personna is not fake, but that is who she really is.
So I’m thinking that while they were on the beach during those last days of July, the assertive retired FBI attorney McLean might have plied Ford with false memories that she came to 100% believe, but with only enough details to make them seem credible.
I haven’t really thought this out all the way, but at first blush it seems a possibility.
Throw her in jail, along with her co-conspirator.
I don’t think a US Senator likes to be toyed with and made a fool.
