The Alabama Republican Party said Friday that U.S. Sen. Doug Jones', D-Ala., intention to vote against confirming Brett Kavanaugh "betrays our state."
Jones indicated Thursday night that he would not vote to confirm Kavanaugh to the U.S. Supreme Court, citing what he believed was Dr. Christine Blasey Ford's credible testimony that Kavanaugh sexually assaulted her when he was a high school student. Alabama's junior senator also suggested that the Senate Judiciary Committee's decision not to subpoena Kavanaugh friend Mark Judge, whom Ford said witnessed the incident, and the committee's failure to receive all relevant documents on Kavanaugh impacted his decision.
