I hope Thomas decides to step down during this first term. It’s not that I hate him, it’s just that he is getting up in age. IF trump loses in 2020, and Thomas is still on the court, his replacement would be catastrophic. We would be as the democrats are now, fretting the health of Ginsburg. It would be better to replace Thomas with a young, identical clone of his distinguished self.
If we don’t fight to the death against the sleaze tactics of the Rats, they will slime the next nominee, then the next then the next.
I can live with a deal confirming Kavanaugh and sealing the FBI report. After Kavanaugh has been sworn in, we can always reneg on the deal and rat out the Rats. Smirk.

I think the Ds will lose enough Senators as it is ... but a SCOTUS Justice sits on the bench for the rest of his/her natural life ... in Kavanaugh’s case the actuarial charts would indicate another 30+ years. A senator’s term is 6 years.
We cannot let the Democrats get away with this. No, we cannot sacrifice Judge Kavanaugh or we will be lost forever, political, civilly and spiritually.
I don’t believe he has health issues, I’m just thinking prospectively. The 2020 election is a census year. Redistricting will happen and the balance of the House will be upended. If nothing is done to rationalize immigration levels, by 2024, there will be an extra 6 million new immigrants and likely 10 million more new legal immigrant voters from among the ones who already live here. This really may be the last chance to reign in federal overreach. More young conservatives on the SC will help to wind down big FedGov.
Alito is 68 or 69, Roberts is around 65. I’d like to see all 3 retire before 2020 assuming the GOP holds the Senate.

You make a strong argument, but do you really think that Kavanaugh’s chances of being confirmed will increase the longer this thing drags out?
At some point Mitch is just going to have to take a chance or face increasingly diminishing returns, I think now is the time.
