NEW: Sen. Feinstein, D-Ca, just told me "I have no way of knowing" if Dr. Ford is actually going to show up to Kavanaugh hearing Thursday - if outside counsel is asking the questions

There is no immunity for perjury.
Feinstein has damaged her party. She held the ace in the hole, that turned out to be a bluff.
Another reason I always though she was a no show....Because she has two brothers...both attorneys...and neither has said boo. In fact I bet they're laughing their a**** off and saying..."Let's see her get out of this one".

That puzzled me as well - who is running the show, and who brought a supposed adult onto the team?
The Democrats don't normally have access to real adults (or if they do, they seem to assiduously avoid them, in favor of squadrons of children and clowns).

I’d guess Feinswine is now trying to distance herself from this concocted jackassery.
Or, tyranny. I first misread it as tranny.
If Feinstein knows this was a set up and she released the name in a desperate attempt to delay the process then She can’t let the witness testify since her own actions would amount to suborning perjury.
So now she is scrambling to make sure the hearing won’t take place because she knows her formerly anonymous whistleblower will never take the stand because the whole plot would be revealed and DIFi would likely get kicked out of the Senate.
Ford will not appear on Thursday. The Dems will do everything they can to disrupt the proceedings. Kavenaugh will testify. The committee will vote. The weak kneed GOPe’ers will have their cover and Kavensugh will take his seat on the First Tuesday in October.
Kavenaugh has a royal flush. Feinstein is holding onto a couple of jokers.

The further we get into this charade the more plausible your idea is sounding...I am starting to suspect that there was a letter with Judge Gorsuch’s name on it last year signed by the same woman. She is a known leftist who attended schools in the same area at the same time as both men. She probably agreed to let them use her name in exchange for a promise it would never be made public.
But now the cat is out of the bag since the Rs didn’t cave and Kavanaugh didn’t resign! Am praying that ALL the dirt finally comes out!

Can Ford go to jail for lying under oath? Kavanaugh could sue her.

Nothing short of Kavanaugh being axed at the first mention of the allegations would be enough.
That was the point of the whole thing.
I'm beginning to suspect that they didn't expect the Republicans to react they way they did. I'm guessing the didn't expect the Republicans to put up a fight and hold their feet to the fire on it.
Maybe they deserve more credit than we've been giving them.

A dem relative of mine who hates Trump with a passion and thinks Kavanaugh is dishonest even thinks these allegations are BS.
