Brett Kavanaugh on Monday said he will "not be intimidated into withdrawing" his Supreme Court nomination after a second woman came forward with a sexual misconduct allegation against him.
Kavanaugh sent a letter on Monday to Sens. Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa) and Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.)— the chairman and ranking member of the Judiciary Committee, respectively — saying the accusations against him are "smears, pure and simple."
"They debase our public discourse. But they are also a threat to any man or woman who wishes to serve our country. Such grotesque and obvious character assassination—if allowed to succeed—will dissuade competent and good people of all political persuasions from service," Kavanaugh said in the letter to Grassley and Feinstein.
"I will not be intimidated into withdrawing from this process. The coordinated effort to destroy my good name will not drive me out. The vile threats of violence against my family will not drive me out. The last- minute character assassination will not succeed," Kavanaugh continued.

If Kavanaugh would have thought about becoming an un-constitutionalist idiot after being appointed (like Sandra Day O’Connor or John G Roberts) I doubt if he would do so now.
Maybe he can teach politics to the GOP-e.
Grassley said he will extend invitations to all females forever to make complaints about what Kavenaugh did by picking his nose at a stop light anytime in the last Century.
After all, if Judge Kavanaugh COULD be forced to withdraw his name, to whom could he go to get back his reputation?
This is a death match, trial by a thousand cuts, which may have only two outcomes - demolition of Judge Kavanaugh, and the concurrent undermining of the rule of law, or the vindication of the good reputation and unblemished character he has always exhibited, and the incontrovertible duplicity of the opposition revealed for all to see.
“Social justice” is no justice at all, and the “court of public opinion” has proved to be most fickle when it comes to fair decisions.
Kavanaugh is one heck of a man. Twice the man Grassley is.

I have no way of knowing this, but it seems to me that these people are put under the thumb of very powerful and very very persuasive political handlers, usually at the start under the guise and ruse of legal protection, but these people are rarely in an position to exert control over their own decisions unless they have the fortitude to go full rebellion against the people who make them think they are there to help and protect.
Amen! Our great president and nominee are fighters! As Rush just said, thank God for his spine. These are men worth following and fighting for. Lincoln and Grant! Trump doesn’t abide any McDowells.
