It's déjà vu all over again, in Yogi Berra's memorable expression: senior unelected FBI officials conspiring with the Washington Post and New York Times to drive a Republican president from office.
Kudos to Jim Hoft of Gateway Pundit for spotting a 2014 State Department email from SecState Hillary's aide Sid Blumenthal that was declassified and released in 2015.
In it, Blumenthal states as a fact that Bob Woodward has been an "FBI asset" since the days of Deep Throat. See for yourself

Pass the Alcoa wrap, please.
I always assumed CIA.
Wasn’t Bob known as Linda Lovelace ?
So Woodward claims he ahs a box of recordings to back up his book. Wonder how he got them and was it through legal means, did he have help form a three letter agency?
He found them in an underground car garage.
After the same people sat through 8 years of Obama’s reign of terror and said nothing, I’ve come to believe that Nixon is owed a big, big apology.
“And anyone who believes for a minute that he and Mark felt met in a garage should take an IQ test for retardation.
They were probably sitting together somewhere, having a drink, laughing about how Woodward would explain this anonymous information with the deep throat story.”
Mark Felt was trying to destroy FBI Director Pat Gray and did so by both undermining and sabotaging Gray and by leaking to the media including Woodward and Bernstein.
Mark Felt was definitely a Woodward Bernstein source but he was not Deep Throat. It is literally impossible.
Deep Throat was part composite and part fictional character.
He was created by Woodward in order to enhance Woodward’s credibility and to make the Watergate story more interesting.
Sid and Podesta are front and center on this coverup.
Both deserve life in prison
Since the commonly accepted narrative about Watergate is mostly false, Nixon was already owed a big big apology long at about the time Obama was a 12 year old. I highly recommend "Silent Coup, The Removal of a President" by Len Colodny for probably the best book on what Watergate was really all about

Fascinating!
Look at the employment history of Sidneys kids, Josh and Max.
Sidney Blumenthal - Unofficial point man - outside official state department folks, on Libya for Billary, Inc. in the run up to the disaster in Benghazi.
Recordings = so and so told me, and was so and so’s sayings tested and verified? Doubtful. Woodward was told what Woodward wanted to hear.
There may have been many items attributed to “Deep Throat” that were actually from other sources but wouldn’t you agree Mark Felt was the main contributor? Didn’t he admit to it and wasn’t that confirmed by Woodward and Bernstein?
Woodward an FBI asset for 50 years? Oh, I feel so much better.
Ford
Reagan
Bush
Bush
Trump
No need for him to inform against Carter, Clinton, and Obama, of course.
The Nedzi Report on CIA involvement in Watergate included this March 1, 1973 memo by Martin Lukoskie, CIA case officer of Robert Foster Bennett, then president of the CIA front the Robert R. Mullen Company: “Mr. Bennett said also that he has been feeding stories to Bob Woodward of the Washington Post with the understanding that there be no attribution to Bennett. Woodward is suitably grateful for the fine stories and by-lines which he gets and protects Bennett (and the Mullen Company).”
Slowly passing into old age and insignificance and misses the limelight of the ol’ Nixon days.
Sad.
Is he complaining, or bragging?
He was trying to discredit Woodward when he thought Woodward would hurt Hillary's reputation.
It's true that Woodward has a lot of connections in the government.
And I guess the idea is that the FBI feeds him the information (real or concocted) that it wants to get out.
But most of his books haven't had much to do with the FBI, so the FBI connection may not be the most relevant thing about this book or any of his other reporting.
Some people have said that "Deep Throat" was a composite, but your comment puzzles me.
If Woodward got information from Felt and concocted a plot with him, then wasn't Felt in some sense "deep throat"?
