An uneasiness has overtaken the body politic. There is a sense that a terrible clash is about to occur. The establishments contempt for Donald Trump, and their machinations to remove him, are validated by the presidents intemperate counterattacks and the glee that his supporters take in his barbs. These two groups do not simply disagree; they consider each other to be illegitimate and unconstitutional outlaws.
It is true that Trumps behavior is not befitting his office and that a certain decorum and dignity in the White House is not only desirable but essential. Democracy is no different from any other form of government in that the political order is shaped by the character and example of its leaders.
However, there are also many reasons for Trump supporters to despise the establishment: endless wars in which the brunt of casualties are borne by those from Trump country, grotesque public debt generated by vote buying, a two-tiered educational system that ensures income inequality, pervasive government surveillance, open and lawless borders, and on and on. Our elites bring to mind the French aristocracy under Louis XVI, feigning formality yet, behind the scenes at least, corrupt, incompetent, and ruthless.
Ultimately what is most disconcerting is that the divisiveness is not just about Trump: its deeply rooted in two diametrically opposed civic religions. America is no longer one country. These two groups view their national story through different symbolic mythologies.

I thank God for Donald Trump, his steadfast courage & perception! We must find the way to vindicate him in the coming election!
Our Last Chance? [Can Donald Trump Revive The "Spirit of '76?]
The new civil war is already being fought and we are winning. There will be no shooting war because we have guns and they don’t.
For Marxist leftards, the dialectic is a progressive process that requires a struggle. Postmodernism requires a struggle to restructure society in order to end oppression and achieve social justice. Secular humanists want a struggle to achieve evolution of society to utopia.
There is a way to fix this. For the radicals who are practicing violence against the citizenry, fire is fought with fire. This is what a good, regulated militia will deal with.
For education, require a civics curriculum throughout primary school.
For college, all state schools must have an ROTC program or they do not receive federal funding. Their choice.
For STEM, combine science and math and make STEM experiential. Start it in primary school.
I call BS.
Trump's behavior has everything to do with the successes and accomplishments he and his administration have had in office so far.
The problem as I see it, is that we have elected too many of these so-called dignified politicians into the Oval Office and they have ended up doing nada.
Give me a rough and tumble Donald Trump any day over "looks good, sounds good, does nothing" politicians we've elected in the past.
Trump's language is only intemperate to those who hate and oppose him, not to his loyal supporters who think he sounds just like they do.
He gives the "deplorables" a loud voice in our government.
Seriously? But Clinton and his cigars, murdering somebody in their office and rolling them in OUR rug, Obama with his feet on OUR furniture, Hillary yelling obscenities at OUR marines-- yes, we should expect better. Trump is fine. He behaves like we behave with each other, no pretenses. And we like that. So there.
“After a few decades of house cleaning we can have federal elections again. Where is our “Augustus”?”
Do you really want an “Augustus?” He reformed the outer shell of the Roman republic but in reality destroyed
the essence of it. He maintained the pretense and façade of loving republican government but really ruled with all the power of future emperors. He restored order, which continued, by and large, for over 200 years. And the people were so happy that they never realized that their rights had been taken away.
With the succession of future emperors who dropped the pretense of republican government, the emperor became all powerful. He became a god.
We need another George Washington, who stepped aside after his work was done, instead of an Augustus who paved the way for ruthless dictators! I predict our “Augustus” would do away with federal elections (and all others for that matter) and the people won’t care as long as they have their peace and safety.
“The enemy wont wear a certain kind of uniform. We see them at stores on on the road all the time right now but dont know it.”
You hit on something very important, and the likely reason an all out shooting war won’t happen.
Other than the occasional bumper sticker, you have no idea who your target is. You’d have to attack a gathering, like a political rally, and even then there are no guarantees that your target is valid.
This “issue” effects both sides equally, so the most we’re likely to see is occasional outbursts, targeted attacks, and nuisance crimes like slashed tires. We already have fraudulent voting, so that won’t be anything new.
You’re overthinking it and letting doubts lose you in the details.
The enemy are a bunch sexual deviants, hapless welfare deadbeats, leftist gangster statists, illegal aliens, ridiculous children wearing hoodies who couldn’t win a street fight if the opposition was handcuffed, pathetic fist shaking red diaper commies, and of course the perennially outraged civil rights hustlers who think Mike Brown was just a misunderstood kid.
You think the military is going to stand with them?
The Trump Presidency has shown the world what an strong, decisive, American Nationalist leader can do. You think anyone worth a crap is going to side with the shambling, seedy, conniving gibsmedat Left?
Nah. Foregone conclusion.
We win.
Fine.
Lets have the war.
Well win.
~~~
We will win is no reason to want war.
While I suspect that most people who talk about some impending civil war don’t want it, and are telling others to wake up and take heed, I think there are a large fraction of others who actually want it. Just be cause you yourself could survive, or ‘win’, I think you will be very sad someday that you felt this way, even if you do ‘win’. There will be a LOT of innocent people in the middle. A LOT! Is your contempt for humanity this high?
“It is true that Trumps behavior is not befitting his office...”
It is true you’re a scum, POS.
Clinton, LBJ, JFK? Yes they had their picadillos but a fawning press hid them.
The war is over, Deep State lost.
Wishful thinking. We may win some battles with Trump but the war is the lost.
The country is being Hispanized and with that 3rd world dirt farmer politics are surely to follow. That’s not to say we should stop fighting for our kids but population replacement is what it is.
Who cares about a two-tiered education system, which is in the private sector, when the biggest problem is the two-tiered LEGAL system built-into the federal bureaucracy?
Where the common-man is prosecuted while the political elites are given a free pass, depending on whether they are in the "right" party or not.
Simple English translation: GOP Trump cronies go to jail while democRAT Hillary skates free.
Says who? Who appointed themselves behavior police?
I agree. They only want to defang the man. You can encounter his level of abrasiveness anywhere and everywhere. Turn on any political talk show or cable news channel and you will see virtually no shame in attacks and side-taking. I think a “presidential” President is a neutered President when it comes to the media.
Our side has the vast majority of the territory - and the guns. Im not worried. The other side cant even figure out which bathroom to use.
It’s not a war if only one side has guns.
Only if one watches and believes the MSN.
Stay tunned, events will come to light soon that will change everything. MSM and Dem party will never be the same.
The MSM (and you) have underestimated Trump and the plan that was developed (before he was elected) to take down the evil Deep State!
