One thing I have to say though, 31 years ago the quality of the elected officials seems to be much better than what we have nowadays, even with Teddy Kennedy and Joe Biden etc. included.
I don’t think the Bork charade is a good example to use. I’ve read a number of reports suggesting that Republicans in the Senate at the time were perfectly happy to screw him because they never forgave him for his role in the “Saturday Night Massacre” during the Nixon administration.
31 years? I feel really old.
Sow the wind and reap the whirl wind.
dems have gotten worse. They have always been rotten, lying, deceitful, hateful bastards. They are much worse now. Kavanaugh must be confirmed. It will be fun to watch liberal heads break apart, hysterical women screaming at the moon, disrupting hearings, writing idiot articles and making fools of themselves.
“Deserts” Is proofreading dead?
I was alive then but didn’t pay much attention to it at the time. Would yall say Bork got worse treatment than Thomas?
You think the Kavanaugh hearings were bad. Just wait until Ruthie kicks the bucket.
I don’t really remember since when that the SCOTUS rulings had become a 9-person voting according to their own opinion, political or otherwise (Liberal leaning justices, almost all of them), instead of the strict interpretation of the Constitution as written.
We can have a long argument on that point. Just saying.
She's being idolized by the left right now, which leads me to think she's on her way out, long before the Dems could hope to regain the WH.
The left will want to "save" her seat for "someone of like mind" to "retain balance" in SCOTUS.
Kennedy’s office suborned perjury in the Thomas hearings.
One thing that is sadly lacking today is any intelligence and knowledge of the Constitution. The dingbats who people our government couldn’t as a general rule, pass a third grade history or civic test.
Edward M. Kennedy the eternal flame of a grease fire in hell.
Agree totally.
The whole voting thing really isn't working out.
Thank you for referencing that article Sir Napsalot. Please note that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.
Forget the finger-pointing to career senators.
Ordinary voters are reminded that they own the corrupt Senate through the ill-conceived 17th Amendment (17A).
We really need to get rid of 17A.
The 16th Amendment can disappear too.
Democrats were NOT better back then - they were more protected by press thugs.
The press was were just as bad if not worse than they are today too... because Fox News, Drudge, and FreeRepublic didn't exist.
The MSM were biased thugs then - they're biased thugs today.
Robert Bork died in 2012. If the Democrats had not blocked his nomination, then Obama would have gotten to fill the seat. Instead, Kennedy was nominated and Trump is getting to fill the seat.
Karma.
Not really, its just that they couldn't be as open back then as they can be now.
Am I correct? 😋
