The White House flag is no longer at half-staff to honor the death of Sen. John McCain, driving President Donald Trump’s critics crazy.
The flag was lowered to half-staff on the day of McCain’s death and the following day as established by the federal code.
U.S. Code says: "The flag shall be flown at half-staff ... on the day of death and the following day for a member of Congress."
Senate leaders Chuck Schumer and Mitch McConnell urged the Pentagon to lower their flags until McCain is buried, according to a Schumer spokesman.
Frequent Trump critics used the occasion to signal their disgust with the president.
Trump is no stranger to flag lowering controversies.
In 2015, Trump ordered flags lowered at his properties after President Obama failed to do so in respect of five service members killed at a shooting in Tennessee.
Days later, Obama also ordered the White House flags lowered.

It was flown at half staff for the proper time and as flag etiquette requires.
Schumer and McConnell don't make that decision and neither does the Pentagon or Congress. Presidential proclamations are needed to deviate from established protocol, and I think we all know the odds of one of those are.
Anything and everything that President Trump does, or does not to, is justification for the harshest criticism possible...
If Mitch McConnell and Chuck Schumer want to give McCain the respect he REALLY deserves, they should go back to their home states and name a couple of garbage trucks after him.

McCain reaped what he sowed. Most Americans have no use for John McCain, whatsoever. He will have the same type funeral as FLOTUS, Barbara Bush had, proper, boring, non eventful. The Bush family has destroyed itself in the eyes of million of American citizens. Ditto, the Clintons, Ditto, the Obamas.
You will not see hundreds of thousands of Americans lining the streets, highways & freeway as the McCain funeral caravan passes by to mourn and pay their respects. They could care less.

Heck, why not give every federal employee the day off with pay, too? (Like they do on the day of the funeral of ex-Presidents.)
On another note, I vowed not to criticize Senator McCain until after his funeral. But I can't help but note that the media is doing NOTHING to inform the US public about McCain's personal life, from the circumstances of his first marriage to his marriage to his current life, on to any flaws that might have clouded his judgement and decisions concerning certain issues.
