Attorney General Jeff Sessions pushed back against President Donald Trump on Thursday, saying in a statement released by a spokesperson that the Department of Justice would not be "improperly influenced by political considerations" hours after Trump attacked him on television.
"I took control of the Department of Justice the day I was sworn in, which is why we have had unprecedented success at effectuating the President's agenda," Sessions said in the statement which was posted on Twitter by Justice Department spokesperson Sarah Isgur Flores.

Deep breath. Grassley has already said Sept 4 starts proceedings. And Why would Kavanaugh recuse himself? He has no reason to.
Tell that to Robertt Mueller and his merry band of rabid, vindictive, Trump-hating 17 Democrats. Everything they have done so far has been strictly political.

Isn’t that just speculation that he is a “cooperating witness”? I know Sundance from the Treehouse has his theories and all, but that doesn’t mean it is true.
I also notice not a single one of them is actually being prosecuted, so it seems like the same old, same old. Bureaucrats protecting their own and two sets of laws, one for their pals in the government and one for us little guys.
Mueller has no problems convening a grand jury, gathering evidence, testimony, and actually indicting people. So we know that it can be done, if anyone at the DOJ had the will to do it. Which tells me that none of them do, except when it comes to getting Trump.
Jeff would make a great mayor for San Francisco, Heaven knows Alabama doesn’t want him back, ever.

Alan has a different goal than many here think. His defense of Trump only applies if it also protects Hillary.
If he really meant that, he would be investigating Hillary and the Steele dossier and the Clinton Foundation’s receipt of $145 million just as she authorized the sale of uranium to Russia.
I guess this is Jeff Sessions ‘coming out of the closet’ and being part of the ‘coup’ against President Trump.

They are out to get President Trump and he will have to deal with Sessions or anyone else regardless.
In my mind I have a “strategy” but I won’t post about it.
I just hope Trump and those he trusts are ready to take care of backstabbers.

That is exactly right.
The Sessions haters’ case rests on two erroneous premises:
1) That Trump’s Presidency has been damaged by the Mueller investigation. To listen to the haters, by allowing the Mueller investigation, Sessions has effectively hobbled Trump’s Presidency and sabotaged his agenda - I don’t see any evidence of that. I see a very successful two years across the board, and any blockage, say, to funding the wall, to defunding PP, or to repealing Obamacare, had nothing at all to do with Mueller’s witch hunt.
2) That with an aggressive non-recused AG, a significant number of top level Obama era officials including HRC would have been locked up or otherwise brought to justice. There is no evidence Trump ever intended to pursue this course. Yes, he scored big points with the “because you’d be in jail” debate zinger, but he has never once promised he’d attempt to lock up Obama era officials. He said he’d drain the swamp, but when his supporters chant “lock her her up” at rallys he never, ever joins in the chant, as he does with other chants like “build the wall”, “drill baby drill” or “drain the swamp” or “USA”. There is no evidence that Trump is interested in locking anyone up - yet Sessions’ failure to do so is considered a betrayal by Trump supporters - at least the most bloodthirsty ones.
I think most Trump supporters would like to see the Obama era officials punished - but regarding severity of the punishment, there is a wide range- some of us would be happy with these corrupt Democrats being exposed, discredited and banished from ever being elected to public office again - some want significant jail time - the most extreme want public hangings or heads on pikes.
But what does Trump want? I think he wants to beat them in the election booth - not in court. I think he’d rather be remembered for MAGA, than for bloody purges.
Let’s face it, there are some among us who wanted to see extreme punishments meted out and when it didn’t happen, they were bitterly disappointed and they needed someone to blame - hence the sSessions hate fest.
Maybe Mr. Sessions is not talking about the President...
