TETERBORO, New Jersey (WABC) -- A plane is attempting to make an emergency landing after it blew off two of its tires during takeoff at Teterboro Airport in New Jersey.
An airport source said the pilot took off around 10:50 a.m. after its two front tires blew off, and the plane is now circling the airport before it attempts to land.
Sources said 16 people are on board. The aircraft is a Gulfstream IV, a jet flown mainly for private and business use.
The aircraft was heading to London Luton Airport in Luton, England.
The plane was expected to land at Teterboro around 12:20 p.m., but it was diverted to Westfield-Barnes Regional Airport in Westfield, Massachusetts.

They flew into the Buildings WHILE GOING 400 to 550 MPH.
I’m surprised the Buildings weren’t knocked over by the kinetic energy alone much less the exploding Fuel on impact.

I think Kennedy Steve did retire, and I believe he was a ground controller (not sure about air traffic). The English, French and Italian pilots were always too cool to get rattled by Steve and his Noo Yawk patois.

Tires blow all the time. There rarely are deaths.
Hope they didn’t run out of fuel attempting to burn most of it off.

Flying home from OshCosh our plane dropped off the flight track too. Spooked the wife some.
Couldn’t they accomplish the same thing (burning off fuel) by flying to London - the original destination.

A coworker once left the anti rotation spacer off when changing the the nose wheel and tire assembly on an F-16.
It became very apparent when the pilot tried to turn onto the runway.
