~The FReeper Canteen Presents~ Road Trip: Naval Air Station Meridian, Mississippi Naval Air Station Meridian or NAS Meridian is a military airport located 11 miles northeast of Meridian, Mississippi in Lauderdale County and Kemper County, and is one of the Navy's two jet strike pilot training facilities. Naval Air Station Meridian trains Sailors and Marines in aviation and technical related fields. It is home to Training Air Wing One, Training Squadron 9, Training Squadron 7, Naval Technical Training Center, Marine Aviation Training Support Squadron One and the Regional Counterdrug Training Academy. The Air Operations Department employs 230 military and civilian personnel to operate NAS Meridian/McCain Field and Naval Outlying Landing Field (NOLF) Joe Williams. Their primary mission is to support Commander, Training Air Wing ONE, the wing's subordinate training squadrons and its associated T-45 Goshawk aircraft in the conduct of undergraduate strike pilot training. Additional services are furnished to support operations for NAS and transient military aircrews. Air Traffic Control Division operates the control tower and radar final control systems. NAS Meridian maintains a separate runway, Joe Williams Outlying Landing Field (OLF), approximately 25 miles northwest of the main air station. Joe Williams OLF is an 8,000 foot long runway located in a rural area between the communities of Bogue Chitto and De Kalb. The field is used to reduced traffic congestion at the main air station, primarily when students are conducting Field Carrier Landing Practice in preparation for initial aircraft carrier qualification. They were too cute in the video you posted. They hang closer to the house than ours do so they don’t hear the door open. They hear that food rattling in the can if they’re fairly close and I also holler “kitty” REAL loud.
One reason we can afford shots is our vet isn’t a highway robber. Your vet charges a heck of a lot more than ours does. Still not dirt cheap by any means but much more affordable. We also only get shots annually for those who go outside and only 5 do these days. They don’t get them at the same time and that helps. They’re timing is based on what month they arrived here.

Howdy, E.G.C. ((HUGZ))
Did you have another nice day for a romp at the lake with Gizmo?
Sitting here wondering if we’ll get rain tonight or not. So far it’s been fizzling out before it gets here.

Cool! And it looks like it should be a beautiful day for it. No rain anywhere close to you. I hope that means the cold front has already gone through so you’ll have comfy temps.
We’re waiting for that to get here. LOL

My friend who called to let me know that she couldn’t cat-sit told me that her vet said that obamacare also affected them in their equipment, meds, etc. Plus our economy is vastly inflated because of the oil boom we have.
They are cute. We love to watch them playing in the yard. Even Ghost will twitch his tail so they can play with it. Then he gets bored and moves on. LOL!

Yes, obamacare did affect the vets and ours raised rates too. There are a few vets who charge high rates but I simply don’t go to them. We’re fortunate to have a great vet who doesn’t intend to become a millionaire. He lives comfortably, his clients pay reasonable rates, and the critters get excellent care. Everyone wins. :-)
It’s fun watching several cats play together, especially outside. More room to romp.
Who’d a-thunk Ghost would be such a softie with the kittens? He looks a little mean with that scowling face but he’s a sweetheart.

He really is an old softie where those kittens are concerned. I don’t think he understands so much why Li’l Bit takes a swipe at him if he gets too close. LOL!
Gurss I’d better go for tonight. I’m getting sort of sleepy. See ya tomorrow...quiz night! Already?

Some tomcats are like that and it’s cool to watch them play with kittens or endure their “harassment”. LOL
Some are very protective. When Murphy and Jade showed up here after being orphaned, Cooter took them under his wing. He’s a BIG boy and they were so tiny when they showed up, and it was too sweet to watch him take care of them. He wouldn’t let the others get close.
Poor Ghost. Lil Bit needs to figure out he isn’t going to hurt her babies and stop swatting the poor ol’ feller.
Sleep well. Catch ya tomorrow evening for the quiz!

I attended Yeoman (YN) Class A School in NTTC Meridian, MS back in September-October 1987 following graduation from Navy Basic Training at the now closed RTC Orlando, FL. Navy Administrative and Supply rating A schools were located at NTTC Meridian as well as Marine Corps Supply School!
