Illinois manufacturer to lay off 150 workers, move to Mexico

By Associated Press

A storage safe manufacturer is closing two factories in northern Illinois and moving operations to Mexico to counteract the effects of metal tariffs imposed by President Donald Trump’s administration.

Stack-on Products will lay off about 150 people at its Wauconda and McHenry plants when they close Oct. 12, the Chicago Tribune reports.

Human resources director Al Fletcher said Tuesday the decision to relocate operations to Juarez, Mexico, was made about two months ago. That’s when Trump announced tariffs on numerous goods and materials from China as well as other countries.

The media is hyping this story as - because of Trump businesses are closing and people are losing their jobs.

Bull Crap. Barf Alert!

I have two Stack-On boxes, which are no more secure than a cardboard box and both have stickers on them with "Made in Chine". All that company is doing is moving the last of their business from here to Mexico. I believe that the company moving plans started before Trump got in office just to completely operate out of the U.S.

"Fletcher says the company has a plant in China and another in Mexico, and its only U.S. factories were the two in Illinois."

Punish those businesses who move to Mexico and China.

You also forgot to mention that the state of Illinois is hostile to businesses.

LOL! Now try to get their “finished product” imported into the US. I hope they have a big market for their boxes in Mexico.

Just find what Tariff System of the United States entry is used in imports and raise that particular tariff 100%.

Aren’t they supposed to be slapped tariffs on when importing their goods back to USA?

Juarez is just a wonderful garden spot. Just take the battery out of your car every night while it’s parked.

The operative word is Illinois.

The tariff blather is a figleaf to cover the fact that operating in the state of illinois is no longer possible. the democrat state is toxic to business and literally kills the business by over regulating and onerous taxation.

I will not purchase any products from Stack-On and recommend that gun owners purchase only American made.

They’re moving to escape Illinois taxes, but blaming Trump apparently earns them more brownie points with some Lib customer.

Juarez, Mexico is probably safer than Chicago based on the shootings reported

Too bad about the jobs but Stack-On safes are junk. I have one of the smaller boxes with an electronic lock. The battery ran down and I couldn’t get into it. A YouTube video shows how you can put a paper clip into the hidden lock and twist it until it opens. Took me about 10 seconds.

The good news is that those 150 workers will have no problem finding jobs in this booming manufacturing climate, thanks to President Trump’s concern for American workers.

“They’re moving to escape Illinois taxes, but blaming Trump apparently earns them more brownie points with some Lib customer.”

And they advertise that the products are California Compliant.

Hillary won Lake County, IL by 20 points.

There are casualties in war, and trade wars are no different. In any trade war there will be winners and losers. The expectation is that when the dust settles there will be more winners than losers. But if the media, or anyone, thought that it would be nothing but winning then they’re deluding themselves.

Probably. But cutting the employee costs will offset that.

While what you say may be partially true, we are not presently involved in a trade war and the Trump trade negotiations have nothing to do with Illinois being a terrible place to be in business.

The press release was fake news.

Unanswered..... was the business union?

Beat me. Businesses are streaming out of Illinois but not because of Trump. They are leaving because of Illinois. This guy must be a democrat.
