ORONO, Maine - Democrats have all but acknowledged that they are unable to stop the Senate from confirming Trump nominee Brett M. Kavanaugh for the Supreme Court this fall.
Moderate Republican senators such as Susan Collins of Maine, the most closely watched GOP swing vote, are sending strong signals that they will back Kavanaugh. Several Democrats facing difficult reelections this year have indicated they are open to voting for the judge. And leaders of the resistance are already delivering post-mortem assessments and blaming fellow Democrats for a looming failure.
Barring a major revelation, the Senate is poised to install the 53-year-old Kavanaugh on the high court and take the next step toward fulfilling President Trumps pledge to remake the Supreme Court and the wider federal judiciary, potentially for decades.
There were too many Democrats who decided out of the gate that this was an unwinnable fight, said Brian Fallon, the executive director of Demand Justice, a leading anti-Kavanaugh group that will continue to battle the nomination.

Good. Let the confirmation process begin.
And then Ginsburg, Breyer and Sotomayor’s replacements.
More winning.
OK Mitch, time to move your a**.
I dont understand any further delay. These bastards pass bills they have never read with no hearings!! Like obozocare. Why are they fiddling here?

This is about the only place where he’s super efficient and useful. He kept Merrick Garland off the court and got Gorsuch through really well.
I was waiting for my train a couple of days ago when a man with a clipboard approached me. He wanted me to sign a petition against confirming Kavanaugh. He launched into a big spiel about how Kavanaugh was such a horrible threat to “the right to choose”. I said to him, “You’re wasting your time. I’m pro-life.” I was afraid he would say something nasty, but he was very polite and moved on to the next commuter. I don’t know what he imagined he would accomplish with his petition, but I guess he was doing his bit for “the resistance”.
That’s why we need to vote to keep the Republican majority in the Senate.
I answered the phone the other day and the caller was a democrat conducting a push poll for the governor’s race. It was the third time they’d called. I asked the pollster, Did you eat the baby she’d killed that morning or just threw it away?”
When she asked an incredulous “What?”
I replied “I think you are a monster.” and hung up.
Well duh. But I sure hope they continue to be hysterical about it.
Good news.
Hope it happens soon/

A mid-term election coming up.
There is nothing strange here. Confirmation starts 09/04.
Unfortunately we’re gonna loose Justice Thomas to retirement in a year or two. At least we can be confident that we’ll get a good replacement from Trump......
Justice has been a very Conservative Libertarian on the court with both a sense of humor and irony.
I had the exact opposite happen to me at the recent Trump rally in Pennsylvania. Someone walking around with a clipboard and asked me to sign a petition calling for Democrat Bob Casey to vote to confirm Kavanaugh. I told her she was wasting her time, since Kavanaugh doesn’t need Casey’s vote anyway ... and I’d prefer to see Casey show his true colors in an election year like this.
Im thinking of sending Justice Sotomayor a deluxe size box of chocolates, just because.
Collins = Liberal, RINO, Snake and those are her good points!
