Stop them? Without force? What would you have the cop do? Say “honey please stop”? You got to be joking.

What you need to understand is that any type of force, even a simple grab and restraint, or a take down to the floor can have deadly consequences.

So if you don’t want force, then just let her go. Let her get away with it. While that approach might appeal to BLM activists, us law and order types here at Free Republic are not in favor of it.

Thanks for the picture, the 4 articles I found didn't have any.

Yeah...suuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuure, drop the charges and in 2 or 4 tears she'll be stealing more expensive stuff, being wild, and running the streets!

Sheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeesh...just look at the mother!

"You tell him. Just because a teen wants to shoplift, why we should let them. Let them get away with it. Do not stop them. That’s being racist."

What it is, is condoning the breaking of laws, and by condoning the act(s), and looking the other way, the perpetrator's see that as a sign of weakness, and are emboldened in their behavior...becoming more aggressive.

“Kid shoplifting is less of an offense than a speeding ticket. Nobody’s life or health is at risk from shoplifting”

Then why were the cops called?

"The good cops hate the bad cops."

That's very true, because the bad cops put the lives of the good cops in jeopardy.

No. Is there a backstory on this? Scene from a movie? I’m sorry, I have no idea.

Especially with the DA, Police Chief and Mayor running over each other to be the first to apologize or drop the charges.

No kidding. Look at reply number 77. Look at that big mama. Read how officials are apologizing all over them selves. It’s the same old story. Protected classes get away with whatever they want to.

It's a scene from an offbeat T.V.,show and one I enjoyed.

The actress played many different ( 7? ) parts, all of whom had a different personality and look, which she pulled of spectacularly well...you DID believe that they were all different people who happened to look sort of the same.

Free to continue with her thieving behavior. I hope she robs the Mayor’s house next.

Officer Kevin Brown, 55, was working an off-duty security detail at the Spring Grove Village Kroger, police said. He was investigating a group of juvenile girls suspected of stealing from the store.

What happened to the other thieves with the 11 year old. No mention of them at all.

OK now this is starting to look familiar. Do you have a name of that TV show? Seems like I have seen this before. But I don’t know where.

It doesn't matter what they were stealing. It could be the damn crown jewels. Shoplifting places no lives at risk and does not warrant any deadly force.

Just like we learned after all the idiot police chases, sometimes it is best to let them go.

I currently teach middle schoolers in NYC. If you're a police officer, handling any one of them would be a joke. The school has a small NYPD guard (maybe 150lbs) who routinely gets into brawls with 4+ kids, no problem and no need for even a nightstick.

“So to you, it’s okay for a child to be hit by a taser?”

She was old enough to need arresting. That requires being under the control of the arresting officers, “control” being the operative term.

If you can’t take the voltage, don’t do the crime.

People routinely suffer injuries/deaths from heart attacks or falls when tazed.

If there is a possibility of death, it should not be used for such a small offense
