I seem to remember seeing articles saying that the FBI investigated the charges against Manafort in 2005 and dropped the case. Can anyone help me find them?
"Matthew Mikuska, the FBI agent who raided Manafort's home last year, testified that he and other agents gathered outside Manafort's door shortly after 6 a.m., then knocked on three separate occasions and announced that the FBI was there to execute a search warrant.
When nobody answered the door, the agents used a key they already had and entered the condo, Mikuska said. When they walked in, they saw Manafort standing nearby. The agent testified he was not aware how the FBI agents had the key."
The second after Manafort is found Guilty by a Black Jury, The President should pardon him.
Not a lawyer, but even if the FBI had "exonerated" Manafort in the past, that is not the same as a trial, so no double jeopardy would apply. If the things they seized from Manafort were authorized by a search warrant, then the judge who issued the warrant must be put on the stand and questioned by the defense, and he would most likely still be upheld.
I too searched for articles on this, but I couldn't find one. This is something I received in an email a while back.
Judge Nap says Manaforts defense will be that he was EXONERATED 8 years ago
:)
Correction:
“Sol-ved”
(with atypical french accent)
Wasn’t Rosenstein involve in deciding NOT to take Manafort’s case to trial?
Rosenstein may even be called to the witness stand by Manafort’s lawyers why he cleared their client. LoL.
Does the judge know this?
I don’t know. We will have to see if it comes out during the trial.
Manafort’s crime — he is a dandy.
Yes, and the FBI Director at teh time was....
Robert Mueller!
LOL! He's certainly being railroaded by popinjays!
