Former New Orleans Mayor Mitch Landrieu told CNNs State of the Union with Jake Tapper on Sunday that he does not agree with some of his Democratic colleagues who are calling for the abolishment of Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), adding that if when the police get out of hand, you dont say, get rid of the police, you reform the police department. We are, in fact, a nation of immigrants. We know that. We're also a nation of laws, and I do think that Congress has been remiss in not passing comprehensive immigration reform. But it does have to be commonsense. It has to be thoughtful. It has to protect the border, while at the same time making sure that everybody is dealt with in a constitutional way, he said.
I do believe very clearly that separating families from children was not a smart thing. It was a cruel thing. That really is not who we are, and there's a much better way to do that, Landrieu said.
He also said that talk about impeaching President Donald Trump was premature, and he dispelled the notion that the country is divided.

Going to put back the statues, Mitch? Didnt think so. And Obama did call for abolition of local police departments due to systemic racism in favor of a nationalized police force answerable only to him.
Mitch is running in 2020 as the great centrist/moderate.
The police aren't out of hand; it's the press that's out of hand.
Congress has been remiss in not passing comprehensive immigration reform.

Just in case everyone does not already know, comprehensive immigration reform is code for amnesty, making ICE irrelevant since the illegal aliens would all be given a free pass.
Perpetual cynicism will certainly assure that the measures never go anywhere, and we will be stuck with polarization.
ICE isn’t out of hand. As a matter of fact I am in awe of how well they treat the illegals, especially the kids. We sure didn’t have air-conditioned tents in the Army.
Never a good thing when Congress talks about “comprehensive” anything. Or when they talk about “common sense legislation,” because common sense is in very short supply with our Congressmen and Senators, and it always has been.
When I hear either of those words spoken by an elected official my butt cheeks grab a hold of my chair cushion.
We are not a “nation of immigrants” - that phrase is quite recent and not at all accurate. We are a nation of conquerors.
No one calls for the abolition of the Police unless their a member of BLM or their sycophantic supporters.
“Mitch is running in 2020 as the great centrist/moderate.”
There is no such thing as centrist/moderate.
There are those who oppose the left.
There are those who want the approval of the left while pretending to oppose the left. These are leftists who simply can’t admit it to themselves.
There is the left.
“Moderates” are those who snipe at the backs of those actually fighting.
“Moderates” are under-miners and saboteurs.
“Moderates” do not walk in lock step with the most rabid of the left. They do walk 3 paces behind as is proper for chattel.
Fallacy of excluded middle....
What is out of control, in my opinion, are Marxist Liberals and duplicitous RINOs in Congress and then Marxist Liberals in agencies and departments in DC and elsewhere in politics shoving their agenda on the American people.
