Having sex may feel like a badge of honor for many men, but for others, its an act that, once finished, brings about intense feelings of sadness. Researchers for the first time ever have identified that women arent the only ones who can suffer from this emotional tidal wave in the bedroom, better known as postcoital dysphoria, or PCD. PCD occurs when a person has enjoyable consensual sex with a partner, but is met with inexplicable feelings of tearfulness, sadness, or irritability afterwards.
...men can and do suffer from PCD which results in feelings of sadness, tearfulness or irritability following sex.
Researchers from the Queensland University of Technology say PCD had only previously been recognized in women, but after a survey of 1,208 men from numerous countries including the United States, United Kingdom, Germany, and Russia its clear that the condition is more common among males than one might expect. In fact, four in 10 participants recalled suffering from PCD symptoms at some point in their lives.
41% of participants reported experiencing PCD in their lifetime with 20 percent reporting they had experienced it in the previous four weeks, said Maczkowiack, a masters student at the universitys school of psychology.
As many as 4 percent of the individuals, who voluntarily participated in the online questionnaire via postings on social media and psychological research websites, said they battle PCD symptoms regularly. Men acknowledged that statements such as I dont want to be touched and want to be left alone, or I feel unsatisfied, annoyed and very fidgety. All I really want is to leave and distract myself from everything I participated in, applied to them when thinking about times theyd made love. Others described feeling emotionless and empty even though the sex was otherwise satisfactory.

Barry: “Must think of Reggie...Must think of Reggie...Must think of Reggie...”
I remember having that feeling, back when I was in my 20s. Plenty of orgasms, loved my husband, but there was this melancholy thing that would hit after sex and I couldn’t make sense of it.
Bill Clinton always cried after having sex. I think it was the pepper spray.
“second most disappointing thing of the honeymoon”
Wow, what a clod.
“Hey, Bubba, I’m not really in the mood, and I’ve got a killer headache. Couldn’t we just snuggle tonight?”
LOL! Or the laughter at his bent willie.
Interesting...62 posts until we learn of a real case. Must have been awful. Sounds like you outgrew it?
Arousal is a form of stress, and stress is physically harmful to the organism. The body has some sort of mechanism to bring itself back down.
I knew that was coming. LMAO.
Life has changed drastically - by time, tragedy, wisdom.
I am with the second man in my life, the one I intend to be the last and we have such a visceral connection. It's kind of still there but at the periphery. Maybe it's a sadness that some day one of us will die that those post-orgasmic endorphins bring on.
Maybe it's some cosmic reality check telling you, "hey, you realize this ain't going to last, right?"
Who knows?
Sex outside a dedicated marriage or committed relationship lacks the emotional connection necessary to turn this dysphoria into euphoria.
“:^), hey none of that...
OMGLOL
You have hit the nail on the head!
This is a joke, right?
I’m sure those four were the ones who had to chew their arm off in order to get away before she woke up.........
The wisdom of the ages is that casual, uncommitted sex is less satisfying. Today's culture is in rebellion on this point. I've no doubt that a lot of people are having a lot of unsatisfying sex.
It must dawn on them that there is more to life than sex.
Like, what now?
Most of the fun is the chase.
