I think it may be because it was a UN operation against NK.

Because the Korean War was considered a “UN Police Action”, and not a war between nation-states.

It was a UN Operation (Police Action).

Everyone who has served in Korea from 1950 on, my late father, your uncle, me, your neighbor, the kid down the street, was under the United Nations Command. Plus, some of those remains might turn out to be British, Turks, Australians or some other allied forces.

Do we even know whose bones, what nationality, let alone what species they are yet?

The Korean War was a UN Police action, many nations involved, it was not a war between the U.S. and Korea. As such that may be the reason the caskets are draped with the UN flag.

I am extremely offended that the remains were not covered with American flags! I don’t care that it was a “U.N.” action! These were OUR troops, and as such, they need to be covered with OUR flag!

Because it was a UN war...

The UN met in the morning and argued about what to do with NK and left the decision until after lunch...

The POed Russian reps never came back after lunch because they didn’t agree to fight NK...the Communists wouldnt fight other Communists...but Russia and China aided the NK with weapons etc...

The rest of the Western powers voted to go into NK so it was a UN war and the American soldiers fought under the UN flag...

Just be thankful Obama’s not in my WH any more...the flag would be the homosexual one...

I noticed the same, but I just don’t give a damn.

First thing I noticed is “WHY THE HELL are these US soldiers not draped in Old Glory???????!!!!!!!!!

Then I realized the near miracle President Trump achieved in getting the remains of so many US Servicemen back home, with hundreds more still in NK to exhume and bring home. If they have to be in the commie UN fish wrapper as part of the deal, that is OK, I am good with that. Very small price to pay to finally after pushing 100 years after the Korean War, these heroes’s remains get to come home.

I hate it, but any dealing with NK is going to involved some form of distasteful compromise. This is just not a high price to pay or an issue to go to war over. You have to know when to fight your battles.

We are bringing the remains of these boys home. That in itself is a miracle. I can live with the UN looking like they get all the credit in foreign news clips. F them.

What is the next step in the process of returning remains to their final destinations?

Will they be identified in S. Korea, or all transferred elsewhere for identification? If brought to the U.S., will there be a ceremony? Bringing them home, wherever “home” is, is a wonderful thing. Thank you, President Trump!

WHY ARE THE AMERICAN REMAINS RETURNING FROM THE KOREAN WAR DRAPED IN UNITED NATIONS FLAG?

I'll answer the question for the young and ignorant on FR.

Because they fought - and died - under the UN flag. Along with the troops from 15 other countries (not including Korea). Five other countries provided medical personnel. (That includes Italy, which had not been admitted to the UN.

Why are the American remains returning from the Korean war draped in (a) United Nations flag?

Who writes these headlines?

It maybe should read: "The reason the American remains returning from the Korean war are draped in (a) United Nations flag."

The UN has become like the fictitious SKYNET.

It has morphed into the servant determined to dominate and replace its creator.

The US has always provided the bulk of UN financing and the US military has always done the bulk of the fighting and dying in major UN operations.

In every UN operation the US carries the heavy load.

The UN is nothing more than a worthless herd of bloviating Fat Cats sitting around scheming of ways to gain more power and of squeezing more money from US taxpayers.

Without the US vision, money and muscle the UN wouldn’t exist.

It’s a pretend game - world leaders, led by the USA, pretend the UN is an effective, competent world force for peace and good works in order to give the UN fake creds.

Fake creds that it doesn’t earn or deserve.

While the US fights wars and “conflicts” under the UN flag the UN takes the money we give them and works to destroy the the US and replace it with New World Order.
