(CNSNews.com) - Sen. Rand Paul (R-Ky.) said today's Trump-Putim summit in Helsinki is not about holding Russia accountable for its cyber-hacking and election interference.
"I think really we mistake our response if we think it's about accountability from the Russians," Paul told CNN's "State of the Union."
They are another country. They are going to spy on us. The do spy on us. They are going to interfere in our elections. We also do the same. Doug Levin at Carnegie Mellon studied this over about a 50-year period in the last century and found 81 times that the U.S. interfered in other country's elections. So we all do it.
What we need to do is make sure our electoral process is protected. And I think because this has gotten partisan and it's all about partisan politics, we've forgotten that really the most important thing is the integrity of our election.
And there are things we can do and things that I've advocated. Making sure it's decentralized all the way down to the precinct level. Making sure we don't store all of the data in one place even for a state and that there's a backup way that someone in the precinct can say 2,000 people signed in. This was the vote tally I sent to headquarters. There's a lot of ways we can back up our election -- advertising and things like that.

Maybe Putin can give the proof to Hannity - Hannity would know what to do with it...
Like that will happen...
Uh oh, Im agreeing with Rand Paul again.
“...like that will happen...”
The same thing was said when Trump said he was running for President, Brother D... :^)
We have an AMERICAN in the White House again.
Anything is possible right now.
Yes, but we don’t have an American running the investigation.
Actually, what this issue reminds me of is the dual citizenship / eligibility issue, which many FReepers did not have the proper perspective on.
The proper way to look at citizenship is that each land can make its own rules. Each land has the sovereignty to grand citizenship as they wish. ONCE YOU UNDERSTAND SUCH A THING, once you grant other lands the same sovereignty you wish for your own, you can proceed to the next step.
Saying that someone is unfit to serve office because he holds citizenship in a different country is thus foolish. That country can grant a candidate citizenship immediately only to make that candidate ineligible. We must not look to other countries to determine our internal citizenship or eligibility rules.
Interfering in or attempting to influence elections in other countries should be seen as the same. In those countries, as long as they arent breaking our laws, influence can happen. We dont have any say. Even if they post on international internet. Its a concept that people dont seem to grasp.
When you run for office, you are running in your country, so work with those laws, but with travel and internet you are exposed to the world. So deal with it if other countries do or dont want you. Point out their biases, point out their influences, and deal with it. Win or lose in the world that actually exists. Its like Hillary wanted to run in a sterile vacuum.
“...we dont have an American running the investigation...”
Ain’t the only investigation in town, my dear brother...
Like you taught me.. “Have a little faith!” :^)
The idea that the US Deep State is trying to criminalize the normal behavior of nations...is an international laughing stock.
Day: 522
Haha!!!
Very nice!!!

Obama meddled in Israel’s election with the intention of defeating Bibi.

Thanks E. Pluribus Unum.
At another time, with some much needed adjusted views on some issues, he could have been top dog.
Trump’s the biggest alpha dog on the block since Jackson.
The Great One is my hero but he wasn’t as outwardly alpha as Trump.
He had his own GREAT style.
He would say in a pleasant way, like a lovable grandfather, “There they go again.” :)
But he’s a loyal soldier at least.
I agree...
Why would the Russians support Trump when the Clintons’ and Bushes gave Russia and China everything they wanted and asked for. Our Encryption and by the way Hillary sold one quarter of America’s uranium to Russia or was that an under the table deal for money?
The uranium was for money, to the Clinton Foundation I believe.
I don’t consider Putin to be a good bet. I do believe it is best to try and keep things as cordial as possible, while watching him like a hawk.
I agree. But do you think he would admit anything about what they do How often does out President and intelligence community admit what they are doing. This is plain stupid and outright deception by the Democrat Party and our Congress in General.
