Mike Davis didn't think Donald Trump could get elected.
Davis is the kind of Republican who backed Ohio governor John Kasich in the 2016 primaries, the kind of Republican who subscribes to the Wall Street Journal. Davis, 64, is the former mayor of Dunwoody, Ga., a small city in the state's 6th Congressional District, one of the most highly-educated districts in the country.
Ultimately Davis voted for Trump, mainly because he was worried about the tilt of the Supreme Court. With the nomination of another conservative justice expected on Monday, following the confirmation of Neil Gorsuch in 2017 and a large reshaping of the federal judiciary overall, Davis is getting what he had hoped for.
So with time, his tepid support has morphed into a wholehearted embrace of the president.

"I love what he's doing with international relations. I love what he's done with the tax code. I love what he's done with the appointment of judges," said Davis. "And to be honest, those three things trump everything in my mind, no pun intended."
There is no doubt Democrats are highly engaged this year. A recent study from the Pew Research Center found they are more enthusiastic about the midterms than Republicans. But that same survey also showed that Republicans are more enthusiastic this year than they were in the 2014 midterms...

The president has a near 90 percent approval rating among Republicans. His popularity near the 500-day mark among his own party is higher than any other president since World War II, with the exception of George W. Bush in the aftermath of the 9/11 attacks.

Bush League Republican
They need to keep calling us names and taking our hats..and screaming in our faces...if they do that they think we will not vote..what fools..
NPR is deeply saddened.
More and more conservatives are seeing Trump as more conservative than Reagan. You can’t help but be pumped by the things being done by president .45.
I have to believe that Trump is “gaining” supporters, not losing them. His policies and outcomes have been successful. His haters are still haters but thee are many in the middle who are becoming converts AND as importantly the Dems really, if we’re honest, have NO MESSAGE, nothing to get excited about nothing to “attract” the middle.
Going from weenie Kasich to Trump. Many are making that similar journey, including many independents.

Read the whole article. They interviewed 50 people who voted for Trump (many reluctantly). Only ONE wishes she had voted for Hillary.
Agree. The violent behavior, the positive results of the admin, and NO message (other than messages caring about anything else than American citizens, tax payers and legal immigrants) is not a combo for success. I guess time will tell.
Ya think?
God bless President Trump.
So Trump May save the day for the worthless GOPe again and they will reward him by defending Mueller every chance they get.
Some people needed to be convinced.
I wasn’t 100% sold on Trump when he tossed his hat in the ring. Frankly I thought it was a PR stunt for his next reality TV project.
He sure has met all my expectations and then some though.
Reagan was more informed about the problems with the socialist Democrats and he had to work with a Democrat Congress. Also, people were less aware of the MSM/DNC collusion.
-forgive the screen name. It meant something different 30 years ago.
In fact, each time a Bob DiNiro, Stephen Colbert, or a Kathy Griffin makes headlines with the type of vulgarity that shows contempt for the norms of society, it drives people further away from the dems.
You and I are in 100% agreement. In fact, I was temp-banned twice during the election. Once during the primary season and once during the general season, for pointing out flaws in Trump. For me, he was a chameleon.
But he’s shown his true colors now and I could not be more pleased.
That is sadly correct.
‘Bush League Republican’
That’s usually the case and might be true here.
Or he might be an ‘intellectual’ who is easily swayed by all those ‘educated’ hoity-toity folks in the 6th district.
Looks like he realizes those people were completely wrong about Donald Trump and has now swayed back - hope he leads many along the way.
Enthusiastic hell.
We are FIRED UP!
We are RABID!
We are READY TO FIGHT,
with the ballot,
and if need be fists, or whatever it takes.
No more stolen elections, no more deep state, no more two-level justice, no more mob rule.
Out with the socialist and communists for ever.
