WASHINGTON — President Donald Trump's legal team demanded that before the president agrees to an interview, the special counsel's team must prove it has evidence of Trump committing a crime and that it needs testimony from the president to conclude its probe, The New York Times reported Friday.
According to the Times, Trump's legal team set its new conditions on Friday with the special counsel team led by former FBI Director Robert Mueller. The demands mark further reason to believe the president will not submit voluntarily to an interview with the special counsel.
The Times account painted a picture of Trump's legal team as increasingly willing to combat the Mueller investigation while seeking to influence public opinion.
Rudy Giuliani told the Times that Mueller probably would not agree to these conditions. He conceded it was still possible the president would agree to an interview and continued to question the objectivity of the investigators.
"If they can come to us and show us the basis and that it's legitimate and that they have uncovered something, we can go from there and assess their objectivity," Giuliani said.
The same report said Trump's lawyers had contested a request from the special counsel team to interview White House chief of staff John Kelly, with White House lawyer Emmet Flood seeking to learn what investigators plan to ask and to narrow the topics of an interview.

There are no sets of criteria that having been met, will result in Trump sitting for an interview.

Kelly was not involved in the campaign, the transition or even the time when Comey was fired. Why on earth would they even think about interviewing him.

And going back to Comey's memos....it was almost like he was doing a "I dare you" to fire me.

I don’t think Rudy has been at all effective as a legal defender of Trump.
Demands, demand, influence, combat...always look at the words they choose.
Trump made him walk that back. He originally said there would be no interview.
Trump is the one stringing this along.
Mueller and company are just running out the clock, waiting for the end of October to issue a truckload of indictments. Surprise!

Sidney Powell’s book, “License to Lie” tells how the US justice system is seriously intrenched with corrupt individuals throughout the ranks of law enforcement as well as in the Senate, the House and the White House. IMHO, accordingly, there is no hope to fix it, the depth of corruption is deep and wide. Lawyers and lawyers turned politicians really do make the most ruthless of criminals.

IMO, Trump and Rudy have encountered far worse, and vastly more clever opponents than Mueller.
They’ve dealt with Saudi princes, Russian bankers, Chinese billionaires, NYC Politicians, Corrupt media, and everything in between. ALL looking to gain an edge, or put the shaft to them.
I know Trump needs to be careful, but never underestimate him (or Rudy), and their vast storehouse of knowledge, when it comes to dealing with sleezy criminals like Mueller.
If Trump hasn’t fired Mueller and RR and Sessions and everyone else involved, then it’s because he’s got a plan. Trump’s not a career politician, but he’s no babe in the woods either.
NO interview. Period.
The question is, how much like crap-flinging primates do the Demagogic Party loudmouths look if this partisan witch hunt is still going on in November?
