Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch wrote an op-ed article on Friday to bolster President Donald Trump's soon-to-be-announced Supreme Court nominee in which he referred to the pick with the pronouns "her" and "she." Trump has a shortlist of potential nominees, but there's only one woman on it: Circuit Judge Amy Coney Barrett.
Republican Sen. Orrin Hatch may have offered a clue about who President Donald Trump will nominate to fill the vacancy on the Supreme Court left by retiring Justice Anthony Kennedy, days ahead of the planned announcement on Monday.
In a Friday op-ed article for Deseret News, a prominent newspaper in Hatch's home state of Utah, the longtime Republican lawmaker wrote a defense of the coming nominee amid a highly polarized and evenly split Senate.
"Too much is at stake to allow politics to corrupt the Supreme Court confirmation process," Hatch wrote. "That's why in the coming weeks, I will lift heaven and earth to see the president's nominee across the finish line."
The op-ed was notable for one reason: Hatch referred to the nominee using the pronouns "her" and "she."
"Just as he did with Neil Gorsuch, the president has promised to nominate an impartial judge, a wise and seasoned jurist committed to upholding the Constitution at all costs," Hatch wrote. "But no matter the nominee's background or credentials, progressives will do everything they can to paint her as a closet partisan, if not an outright extremist."
He added: "As the senior member of the Judiciary Committee, I will fight to keep jurisprudence as the sole focus of our confirmation hearings. And I will devote all my energies to ensuring that we confirm the kind of Supreme Court justice America needs: a justice who says what the law is, not what she wants it to be;

Trump is NOT likely, at all, to take Hatch into his confidence!
Agreed. I want Barrett, but this just straws in the wind. That trump would use Hatch for a trial balloon I just find implausible
I totally support Barrett. She has 7 children!!! Yrsssss!!
anyone with 7 kids needs all the support we can give her.
I’d be thrilled with Barrett as the pick, but the she/her thing is just Hatch virtue-signaling his lack of sexism.
No way, NO WAY AT ALL, did Trump whisper to Hatch, nor anyone else, for that matter, who would leak.
Deliberately false trail I bet.
IMO it has been the plan all along to get the fake news media to bite on a Barrett nomniation and make themselves look terrible in pre-emptively savaging her, only to have the real nominee be someone else.
Hatch has been playing ball with Trump in a big way so coordination is a realistic possibility.
“Hatch has been playing ball with Trump in a big way so coordination is a realistic possibility.”
He needs to have Romney in for a cup of Postum and tell him he needs to support the President.
Amy Barrett is my choice. She graduated magna cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in English literature from Rhodes College, where she was a Phi Beta Kappa member. She received her law degree at Notre Dame Law School with a Juris Doctor. She was executive editor of the Notre Dame Law Review. Beauty is matched with great intellect. I think it is going to be her. She has a remote resemblance to Melania. President Trump knows good women.
Of all the candidates the left is most afraid of Amy Barrett. Putting the word out that she is the top candidate could be a negotiating strategy on President Trump’s part. If the left puts up strong resistance to one of the other people they will know who will be next in line.
It oculd be Hatch pushing Barrett, or it could be that he believes Barrett will be the choice, or it’s possible he’e “heard it through the grapevine.”
You want me to write she and her in the article. Alright, Mr. President, I'll get right on it.
Any pick Trump chooses will be a wise one and a conservatuve.
Never liked Hatch. Stinking Swamp creature and Romney buddy.
She needs to change her middle name!!!
Don’t like rabbits?
Barrett would be a big mistake. What decisions on major issues has she written from the bench? Adopts children from Haiti, why not American children? Was it done to say to the MSM “hey look at me”? Where will she stand with affirmative action or illegal immigration......we all know where the lib Catholic Church stands. Stick with Kavanaugh.
Rather than create a rumor from scratch, this author created a rumor based on a rumor.
Getting paid for creating a rumor rumor is quite a feat
One wonders...... when is a rumor rumor fake news
Don’t count your Hatches before they chicken
