Liberty Is an Anti-Darwinian Concept
David F. Coppedge
July 4, 2018
The Darwinian worldview that allegedly freed people from religion actually enslaves them to the worst kind of tyranny.
In the United States today, Americans will celebrate Independence Day with parties, barbecues, and fireworks. Hopefully mixed in with the fun is some appreciation for the founding principles of America:
* All men are created equal
* Human rights
* Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness
* Liberty and justice for all
* E pluribus unum (out of many, one)
* In God we trust
* The American dream
All of these ideals are profoundly anti-Darwinian. The secular worldview in vogue today, resting on Darwins advocacy of nature run by unguided natural processes, cannot derive any of these. In fact, the opposite is true: secularism undermines every one of these, and historically, has fought against them.

We have exchanged “liberty”, which is endowed by our Creator, for “freedom”, which is guaranteed by an act of government. Liberty deals with just vs unjust, freedom with legal vs illegal. Thus, liberty may say something is unjust yet government may declare it legal (I’m sure many examples come to mind!).
I believe we need to re-discover the principles of liberty.
When i saw the headline at first I thought it was Darwin supporting atheists complaining about Liberty!!!
Understanding of TToE is not a political concept and there is no scientific term “Darwanism.”
That term is used by people who either will not or cannot understand TToE.
This like saying “since the Nazis believed in Eungenics TToE is evil and wrong.”
Flight is scientific. Missiles use flight. Do the math.
Two short videos to assist your understanding of the current LAWLESSNESS and why - if we continue to SLUMBER - those responsible may NEVER BE BROUGHT TO JUSTICE.
What’s that old saying again? USE it or LOSE it. It applies to FREEDOM and the PROCESSES of MAINTAINING IT!
MILLIONS of us hitting those upcoming CONGRESSIONAL TOWN HALL meetings on a regular basis MIGHT send ‘em the message that ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! “THEY” are counting you to REMAIN ASLEEP!
Oh yeah. If you can’t get to these meetings, the number at the Capitol is 202-224-3121. You should call your critters once a week or so to give them a piece of your mind. As an added bonus, you’ll be treated to the WORST MUSIC-ON-IGNORE in the history of mankind!

We either have THE RULE OF LAW for EVERYONE or we tolerate the LAWLESSNESS OF THE WOULD-BE RULERS!
We can’t have it BOTH WAYS!
And the end stage of the latter is ALWAYS TOTAL TYRANNY.
Which will it be, America? WHICH WILL IT BE??
And remember that the most dangerous phrase in ANY language is
Why THAT could never happen HERE?
Are you willing to bet YOUR KIDS’ future that it won’t?
If you’re STILL sitting out this fight, that’s PRECISELY what you’re doing!
Y-a-w-w-w-n, another ill-formed straw man argument.
Almost everything this article says is wrong.
Excellent point.
If Darwinian evolution is true, then people have no intrinsic value. Everything is reducible to “blood and soil” as the Nazis termed it.
We consider the Holocaust an atrocity. The Nazis considered it a logical result of taking Darwinism seriously.
What a foolish article.
No, the confusion does not come from confusing these words. They are synonyms for the same concept.
freedom: the power or right to act, speak, or think as one wants without hindrance or restraint.
liberty: the power or scope to act as one pleases.
Liberty certainly doesn't deal with "justice". Justice is its own concept.
Generally, people who talk about liberty and freedom being different things are trying to undermine the concept of liberty because they don't really want people to be free. They want people to behave as they would wish them to behave. So they try to say "freedom" really means doing what I want you to do.
more Creo drivel
The only way your argument works logically, if I understand you accurately, is if you accept evolution theory in the larger concept of a transcendent (divine) Moral Law Giver.
Maybe those who disagree with these ideas are able to articulate an ontological explanation that includes both unguided evolution theory and intrinsic human value.
But I’ve never heard or seen it.
No that does not follow.
"We consider the Holocaust an atrocity. The Nazis considered it a logical result of taking Darwinism seriously."
Nonsense. The Nazis had entirely different motives than following some imaginary dictates of "Darwinism".
You can still be the first person in human history to explain an intelligible rationale for the ontological basis of individual human worth in the absence of a transcendent Moral Law Giver.
If you are able.
These words were not synonyms to the founding Fathers. No one said, “Give me Freedom or give me death!” They were fighting for God-given rights. After the Civil War the term was changed from liberty to freedom - and that is the word we use today. But they are not interchangeable in their historic context.
As stated, apparently, by Dostoyevski and echoed by Sartre:
“If God does not exist, then everything is permissible.”
Again, the target here is to be able to articulate the ontological basis of individual human worth.
If God doesn’t exist.
>>The only way your argument works logically, if I understand you accurately, is if you accept evolution theory in the larger concept of a transcendent (divine) Moral Law Giver.<<
I will go further than that: TToE was the creation of a loving and moral God as a small part of His Universe which we are just barely beginning to even dimly understand as Part of His Plan which we will at best understand in the bye and bye.
You can be the first person ever to explain where the mutating replicator came from if life began from random processes.
No biologist or anyone else, anywhere in academia, has ever provided the answer.
