Thanks to a new study, evolutionists and their disciples are having to reexamine some of their most revered dogma. Particularly, evolutionists are now having to make sense of conclusions stating that almost all animal species, as well as humans, showed up on the stage of human history at the same time.
One of the constants of science is that science is constantly revising as it is challenged by new data, new theories, and new ways of observing and measuring data, not to mention the changes in scientific ideology molded by larger worldview shifts. Thomas Kuhn's landmark book The Structure of Scientific Revolutions provides a compelling argument for how scientific paradigms evolve, shift, and even jump to completely different tracks. However, within the many disciplines of science, evolution and evolutionists have remained dogmatic about the necessity of remaining committed to certain a priori assumptions. Well, as it turns out, some of evolution's most revered a priori assumptions are now crumbling in the face of new research.
A study published in the journal Human Evolution is causing quite the stir. In the words of Phys.org, "The study's most startling result, perhaps, is that nine out of 10 species on Earth today, including humans, came into being 100,000 to 200,000 years ago."
So startling, in fact, that according to David Thaler, one of the lead authors of the study, "This conclusion is very surprising, and I fought against it as hard as I could."
The study's very own author was so disturbed by how the conclusions challenged current scientific dogma that he "fought against it as hard as [he] could." His "fight" gives credence to the study's conclusions. His eventual acceptance, not to mention publication, of the conclusions speaks well of Thaler's commitment to being a scientist first and an ideologue second.

Interesting since I’m reading Origin of the Species at the moment. So far, everything in it makes sense (that animals naturally breed to improve their “stock”) so we’ll see where it goes.
This is an illustration about how real science is an ongoing quest rather than a destination.
I read Voyage of the Beagle a few years ago, which he wrote before Origin of Species. Quite interesting too.
Well they’ve only had 150 years or so to be wrong.
When they get up to a millenium or two I’ll reassess.
“...nine out of 10 species on Earth today, including humans, came into being 100,000 to 200,000 years ago...”
So? How many species that we know of from the Cambrian “came into being” inside a very small timeframe? The entire history of life on this planet is full of sudden explosions of life, as well as sudden erasures of entire ecosystems. This has been known for years; indeed, the Cambrian “explosion” has actually been called that for decades. There have been a number of articles about this “discovery” over the last month or so, and they all distort the finding so as to present it as something never before seen that challenges everything science knows about the development of life.
I generally feel that Evolution is a cult which first establishes its Conclusion and holds on to it come what may. Any new evidence is shoe-horned in to support the sacred Conclusion.
But I admit: here, at least, a scientist wrestled with uncomfortable evidence and ended up admitting to the Conclusion that it pointed to. Good for him!
That actually feels like Science.
[well see where it goes]
It’s in the BOOK that’s the way it will be. Yes and no, never maybe.
JOHN 1
The Word (Christ) was in the beginning. The Word was with God. The Word was God. 2 He was with God in the beginning. 3 He made all things. Nothing was made without Him making it. 4 Life began by Him. His Life was the Light for men. 5 The Light shines in the darkness. The darkness has never been able to put out the Light.
I’ll have to look for it - Barnes & Noble had a nice paperback version of it for 5 dollars. A bargain.
Origin of the Species
fake news
plus they all die in the end.
hehehe
Gee...I wonder how THAT happened?
always a glitch,
“In the past, researchers studied DNA in the nucleus of cells, which differs markedly from one species to another. But the new study analyzed a gene sequence found in mitochondrial DNA. (Mitochondria, the powerhouses of cells, produce about 90 percent of a cells chemical energy.) Although mitochondrial DNA is similar across all humans and animals, it also contains tiny bits that are different enough to distinguish between species. This difference allows researchers to estimate the approximate age of a species.
The researchers analyzed these gene sequences in 100,000 species and concluded that the eventeither the simultaneous appearance of humans and most animals, or a population crashoccurred about 100,000 to 200,000 years ago. That proposal challenges the bedrock of evolutionary theory.”

It’s been a long time coming. Macro Evolution has been dead for about 40 years, really. It has been killed over and over again. Every new theory to support it has gone bust. Now this to cap it all off.
Matter is incomprehensibly complex. The very blueprint for life is embedded in the tiniest subatomic particle. That didn’t happen by accident. I believe God created the universe/matter. I don’t really see evolution as threatening the idea of God.
I’m not saying it’s aliens buuuuut......
Sedimentary rock is what it is, as is the concept of uniformitarianism.
I look at it this way: If it’s settled, it ain’t science. ;)
I have no problem with the theory being dismantled based on new info. Doesn’t mean I won’t read it. Conservatives read Marx, you know.
