SECAUCUS – The high school principal suspended in April over his handling of a student who was allegedly caught with marijuana and a knife has suffered emotional distress, embarrassment, and damage to his chiropractic office as a result, according to a notice sent to the school district.

Dr. Robert Berckes has signaled his intent to file a lawsuit of up to $5 million against Secaucus Superintendent Jennifer Montesano and all nine members of the school board. As many as 10 additional defendants could be added to the potential lawsuit.

Too bad he suffered damage to his chiropractic office. Maybe he can get it straightened out.

You see it all the time. It’s only taxpayer money, so the local gov’ts settle and pay up, even though the cases have no merit.

Sounds like this has caused him a serious hitch in his get-along.

Maybe he should see a colleague.

Unless I’m missing something, it does appear he was doing the right thing.

What he did seemed professional and he evidently had some consultation favorable with his actions.

Ok, I am confused. What did the school district want the Principal to do? He contacted the Police and followed the instructions of the Police Officer at the location.

He looks primed to retire anyway. He wants some ‘Go Away Money’.
I recall decades ago, many people had a very low opinion of Chiroprators. Maybe because they were largely unregulated at the time.

I think most of us still have very low opinion of chriopractors. Quacks.

Public schools in New Jersey often seem to be run like a combination of the Soprano’s trash business and their men’s club. I can’t imagine how students manage to get education.

I think he needs to adjust his expectations.

Obama's Project Promise pays school districts to not report the crimes of minoritahs.

The Parkland shooter's crimes that would have prevented him from buying a gun were covered up by the school because of Project Promise.

I would countersue on grounds of frivolous lawsuit after rightful suspension for violating established legal laws, and school zero tolerance policies. The distress and harm is all self-nflicted by his own actions.

Would also sue for legal fees.

So what did they do wrong? Both officials who found the MJ and knife were suspended after they contacted authorities and, apparently, followed instructions. Either there is more to the incident or they were not supposed to report the incident at all.

Agree. I’m perfectly capable of cracking my own back, without the help of a chiropractor - done it many times.

Cracks from Quacks?

Some but not all.

I had numbness in my left hand alleviated after two or three sessions with one. That was after three months of physical therapy. On the other hand, a lengthy set of treatments failed to cure weakness in one of my legs, which a back surgeon suggested later on was incurable.

I took my dog to one after our vet said she suffered from spinal stenosis. He didn’t recommend it, he only said he’d had no personal experience. I took her and she benefited, based on my observations of tail wagging and rear leg strength.

You win some, you lose some. They have their limitations, but so do medical doctors. Clinical practice is an art; some arts work where another won’t, and some artists are better than others. The better chiropractors won’t try to sell you vitamins, but like the better doctors stay within the boundaries of their competence. That’s the sign of a good doctor, their knowing what they can and can’t do.
