Regarding a request (#9) by Goodlatte/Gowdy on all emails related to "all coverage on the Clinton Foundation or persons associated or in communication with the Clinton Foundation," the FBI is replying with a classified letter. This is also related to request #8 and the two are intertwined, so materials are put in a classified briefing room.
After the committee reads those materials, it is asked to then specify further what other docs they want.
Don't know what it all means or where it goes, but this appears to be a serious development.
Does this mean they provided ALL requested documents, or does this mean they sent a letter?
It’s clear they sent a LOT of docs (over 1400, at least) but it’s not clear they sent everything. If these are indeed classified, probably not.
Calling Jeff Sessions, calling Jeff Sessions, cleanup in congressional aisle #1, cleanup in congressional aisle #1.
If I was Sessions and I knew that 1) ALL the FISA prosecutions in the last 10 years would be up for re-adjudication and that 2) the diplomatic relations with GB and Australia may be in serious jeopardy, then I’d be treading very lightly.
I wouldn’t move until I could prove every single whisper.
Cuz once #1 is out, you’re gonna have 100 criminal defense attorneys filing to get their clients out and once #2 hits, we may be in the position of having to take major diplomatic steps against so-called “allies.”
But you did say, or least I assumed your statement, implied they were available in the classified briefing room. Am I wrong with my assumption?
New reports of DOJ/FBI compliance with document requests are NOT accurate. While they have turned over additional documents, the new documents represent a small percentage of what they owe. The notion that DOJ/FBI have been forthcoming with Congress is false.
I don’t think the clinton foundation would interact directly with FISA. The DOJ knows that the foundation paid for the steele “dossier” at least in part. Sounds like the DOJ is looking for a a reason not to produce something (”allegations have not been proven...”).
see #7
If that is true, that the Clinton Foundation paid for any part of the Steele Dossier, that is HUGE and would threaten their status as a tax exempt organization.
Q is *way* ahead of you on this one, LS.
and we continue to see how congress has lost control. Government agencies are answerable to congress and the president in total. The first day anything was received or slow rolled people should have been up on charges. now it is business as usual in the swamp.
This is getting old. Just impeach them. Most people have tuned out of this paper chase. This is the executive branch, which he leads, that is playing games with congress. With Trumps permission. Trump could order it released immediately, yet hasn’t done so.
Congress didn’t lose control: they are fellow swamp creatures.

Hillary uses indirect payments, hard to prove. But they might find enough in a FBI or DOJ document to start an investigation. More likely they will "lose" any such docs.
Sessions won't "move". He's recused.
There nonprofit status should be revoked for many other reasons. It was only chartered in support of the Clinton library. Not, of course, all the government kickbacks and bribery, etc.
They wont be impeached. Even if you could get a majority in Congress, it would die in the Senate. Its ultimately going to fall on President Trump.

This is it... the spark that will burn it all down.
