JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - A robbery at River City Marketplace forced shoppers to defend themselves Friday afternoon, according to the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office.
Jacksonville police said a 36-year-old man put multiple people at risk after he stole a cash register drawer from the Walmart at the shopping center.
Police said Christopher Hill ran out to the parking lot after grabbing a Walmart cash register and approached a couple sitting in their pickup truck in front of Supercuts hair salon.
Police said Hill pulled a knife on the man sitting in the truck, cutting him on the hands and legs. The injured man pulled out his gun and pointed it at the suspect, forcing him to run toward a nearby Starbucks, according to JSO.
Next, police said, Hill approached a woman in her car at the Starbucks drive-thru, got into the passenger seat and said that someone was chasing him.
The woman got out of her car, reached into the trunk for a gun and pointed it at Hill until he ran off, police said.
Hill eventually ran into the Supercuts and locked himself in a bathroom, according to police. When officers arrived, Hill came out of the bathroom with the knife in his pocket, police said.
Hill is being held on $91,000 bond on charges of strong arm robbery, aggravated battery and attempted carjacking.
It’s getting so a crook just can’t tell who is armed these days.
After reading the story I believe the headline should have read “Robber Had Bad Day”.
So the genius literally brought a knife to a gunfight? Amazing. Now I’m sure the robber is a lib Dummycrat for being an idiot.
Hey dindus-- don't bring a knife to a gunfight!
And notice the self-discipline, the self-restraint of the two armed citizens. NOBODY WAS KILLED. Nobody was even shot! Citizens went back to their productive lives, and the dindu went to jail. So awesome.
Hill eventually ran into the Supercuts and locked himself in a bathroom...
If Jacksonville had gender neutral restrooms he wouldn't have been able to hide from her in there.
Trunk carry is even worse than carrying without a round in the chamber - unless your preferred carry piece is an 870 or an AR15 I suppose.
What is this just pointing the gun at him shit? Cut me and get ventilated.
A bad day at the office ?
And they wonder why we want to carry guns?
I am amazed at the restraint shown by the driver of the pickup truck. My guess is that he is a Christian and his moral compass wouldn’t allow for unnecessary killing. Would be interesting for the press to interview him.
Guessing the victims were in safe mode, mags/ammo locked in glovebox or trunk.
No kidding. After someone on a rampage attacks you and draws blood, it's your duty to put him down like a rabid dog.
Dollars to doughnuts the guy’s on meth.
This story reminds me of the newspaper story back in the 1910’s or twenties when some idiots tried to rob a bank in Texas and got ventilated by every single shop owner in the area, a lawyer sitting in his 2nd floor office, and some kid passing by with a .22.
Wish I could find the reference??
Does anybody blame me for initially sight-reading "Supercuts" as "Starbucks?"
Stores like Supercuts has 1 stall RR that every one uses.
If I have to go to the Navy base our local gun range will let us leave our carry pieces there and pick them up when we come off base. Neat service.
TN has open carry. Mine is on my hip. I be sure to thank anyone I see who is carrying as I do our Military for their service.
Dayum. Sounds like a Benny Hill routine! d;^)
Sorry for the knee jerk reaction, but any bets on the description of the perp?
Some days you might as well have stayed in bed.
